I thought King George was dead because we hadn’t seen his real world counter part until this episode where he popped up as a big attorney, pitting him once again against Snow White. This is the first time we’ve seen Cora but I remember, she said in the episode that she looks forward to moving to the castle with Regina. But we haven’t really seen her in the King’s castle.
so, I’m wondering if maybe Regina locks her up because she’s so powerful and dangerous. I used to watch V on ABC and Anna (the leader of the V imprisoned her mother because she thought that her mother was weak). Cora obviously is not weak but I don’t think Regina likes having her all-powerful mother freely walking around the castle either. So my theory is that once Regina, Henry and Cora moved to the castle, Regina had Cora locked up.
Maybe Cora was the one who made a deal with the Queen of Hearts to kidnap Henry, Sr. Regina found out about it and that’s why Regina locked her up. But since Regina isn’t a talkative, I want to share my feelings kind of person, Cora doesn’t think it’s because she killed Daniel.

I like the theory floating around that Regina kills Cora. Maybe that is how she inherits the powers and really becomes quite evil.
I almost feel that Cora would be proud of Regina seeking revenge and becoming darker in character. Like she would give herself a pat on the back thinking “WOW, I taught my daughter well!”

correction: I forgot about the Dark One. but I don’t think Cora started out with all that power. She learned it.
April 4, 2012 at 5:50 pm #140946Daniel J. LewisKeymasterI’m thinking that Regina gets so angry that she kills Cora and inherits her magic. Since we now know that Cora was the Miller’s daughter and had some dealings with Rumpelstiltskin (I’m spelling proper since I’m referring to the fairytale, not Once Upon a Time), that seems a good explanation for where she got her power, which was somewhat similar to the dark one’s, without the visible effects.

Just as Rumple warned that Snow White would become as dark as Regina if she murdered the queen, so I think that Regina became as dark as Cora by killing her own mother. There are a lot of parallels to how Rumple became the Dark One when he killed Zoso, which also makes me think that Rumple somehow endowed Cora with a kind of dark magic. We now know that Cora is indeed the miller’s daughter from the Rumpelstiltskin story, in which she guessed his name and therefore kept her first-born child. Thus, perhaps Rumple wanted to get even with Cora by cursing her with dark powers, knowing she’d eventually meet her death, because all magic comes with a price. After all, Rumple knew full well what would happen to Snow White if she killed Regina. He must have foreseen that Regina would become darkened if she killed Cora.

The only way Regina would feel completely free of her mother would be if she no longer existed, so I agree, she wanted her out of FTL. That’s why I think Regina banished her mother to Wonderland after stealing her powers.

That’d be pretty messed up, “Look at you so vengeful against me, I’m so proud!” LOL
