I guess the best way to counter all this hate is just love MRJ/Neal all the more! 😀 And anyone with a twitter to drop him a line about what a great job he’s doing and how excited we are to have him back!
From what I’ve seen of this growing Neal hate, it seems to be coming from people who feel his return somehow threatens their ships – which the swan thief shipper in me is kind of proud of. It says something about the chemistry and backstory Emma/Neal share if the fact he has a new script is sending haters into a frenzy. 😆
Good news to add about his return, he’ll be back in episode 14 or 15.

I wish people could pay attention to how real and natural he is on screen – I think he really is talented and that he deserves a big role, like playing Henry’s father. 🙁 I just hope Adam and Eddie & co. write the show how they WANT to and however they PLANNED to, and not take screen time away from characters simply because they’re not popular with the fandom.
I hope the rudeness he’s getting on Twitter doesn’t deter him from tweeting to his fans, either. Oh, what a downer. *sigh*

I think he used a bit of Bae’s DNA (a hair left on a cloak, perhaps) to ‘anchor’ the curse to when Bae would be alive. With both of their essences used in the curse–that’s what drew them together. What made Emma chose that bug out of any other car. What happened afterword couldn’t have been planed.
That’s a really great idea. I’ve always wondered how Rumple could have figured out exactly where and when Bae had gone to, because it’s not like there’d be a whole lot of info on worlds without magic at his disposal for him to evaluate and find the right place and time. We’ve seen him use magic that can find someone if the potion is poured on something the person owned. Perhaps he originally developed that little trick as an ingredient for the curse, and combined it with a hair of Bae’s, or just a piece of something he’d owned.
Regarding the tweet that MRJ got, is the person who sent it known for being a hater? Coz I figured it could be taken either way. Sure, it could mean, “I hate the sound of this because I hate Neal and the thought of seeing more of him makes me wanna puke.” Or, “This is so awesome it made me so excited that my stomach did a flip and it makes me wanna puke.” The word they used which would get censored if I typed it out, doesn’t necessarily always mean something bad these days, it can be used in reference to something you think is awesome, or can be a totally neutral term. It’s a very multi purpose word, along with its relative, that other 4 letter word that starts with f, very useful in many situations. 😉 If in fact the person was being a hater, then obviously, that’s uncalled for and uncouth.
December 9, 2012 at 5:38 am #164164magickingdomParticipantUgh, this fandom can be so immature sometimes. 🙄 I’m going to ignore the haters and focus on how much I love Neal. 😀
December 9, 2012 at 6:36 am #164166lilredParticipant@Phee – it sadly isn’t awkward phrasing or a case of sarcasm not working right over the internet. Checked out this person’s page and they have several tweets about Neal that are just …irate! Lot of profanity so I won’t be posting screen shots but apparently they feel the show has been a failure ever since Tallahassee and the Neal storyline was introduced.
Here’s the page if anyone doesn’t mind a few choice words: https://twitter.com/bdaymouse
In the spirit of fairness, this person did try to justify their actions when other fans called them out for sending hate to MRJ (examples being they have the right to their opinion – very true, they apparently weren’t aware that when you retweet someone they get the tweet in their own feed and can read it… 🙄 – barely ever active on twitter and I know this, she hates his character Neal not him as an actor.., they’ve never and will never send out hate to an actor or writer….) apparently this person is a SwanQueen fan that tweeted something to the writers/creators about the horrible way they are dealing with adoption on the show at some point and seems to dread the idea of Neal wanting to be in Henry’s life upon his return. This is me generalizing what I’ve read though, definitely not going to contact this person to ask – they seem way too angry to try and have dialogue with for me! And I’m way too protective at this point. 😉
I guess I just need to realize that actors probably get this all the time – are used to dealing with bad ‘press’ and public opinion at times. He at least doesn’t seem opposed to laughing it off! Which is great! As people have said before on this thread, he is really a nice, funny guy with his fans – and I would hate if he had to become more guarded because of some members of the fandom disliking that his character may want some contact with the child he never knew about, carried by the girl he was/is? VERY MUCH in love with, in a situation that he’s really only tried to be noble and do what was right for said girl….yeah, I’m definitely overly protective of Neal’s character at this point… 😆

Ah, well then, that’s just sad. I have a good friend who is a huge Supernatural fan, and her fave character is Castiel, and apparently there’s a faction of the fandom that really hates Cas and aren’t shy about it. As I’ve said to her, and I’ll say here now, I don’t understand when fans of a show get off on harbouring such hate for one of the major characters and/or storylines. Surely having such passionately negative feelings would ruin one’s enjoyment of the show overall? So why go out of your way to feel so negatively? If it annoys you that much, then why bother with the show at all? I’m not saying that everyone has to love every character, or that people can’t love to hate a character, but to wish a character or storyline didn’t even exist…what do you get out of that, except having your enjoyment of the whole show ruined? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Anyway, regarding MRJ, I’m guessing he’s well aware that for every one person who may tweet him that they hate Neal, there are MANY people who are eagerly waiting to see him again. I’m sure he wouldn’t be unaware of the frenzy the fandom was sent into over his character, and that’s gotta be a nice little ego boost. 😉 He’s a big boy, and as an actor, I’m guessing he’s developed a bit of a thick skin when it comes to comments like that, and knows that laughing them off is the best response.
December 9, 2012 at 12:16 pm #164174craxyfoxParticipantBut August has gotten a lot of hate too 😥 Fans of Neal hating on August and Hook and vice versa, I can’t wait to know who Emma hates the most 😆
December 9, 2012 at 2:37 pm #164189gypsyParticipantI’m a big fan of MRJ and his character, Neal Cassady.
It’s totally disgusting that haters think it’s ok to do that kind of crap…..just sayin’
December 9, 2012 at 4:17 pm #164191the fairestParticipantUgh, I knew I hated Twitter for a reason. 😆 I love Michael Raymond James and I adore his character on Once Upon a Time. He’s one of my favorite new characters of season 2. I hope MRJ knows to ignore the haters and just focus on the fans who love him. 😉
December 10, 2012 at 12:11 am #164294maiqu20ParticipantI looovee MRJ (not a big fan of Neal but I don’t hate him) and honestly he does not deserve the hate…People who send hate and/or death threats to the actors/writers are probably going to burn in the deepest fires of hell
