Now that we’ve seen Emma have the realisation that love isn’t weakness, it’s strength, do you think that will colour how she reacts to Neal when she sees him again?
I’d figured she’d be all hostile towards him and try to shut him out, but now I’m wondering if that might not be the case, or at least not to the extent I’d been anticipating. I’d been thinking that Neal would be the one trying to reach out, asking for forgiveness, wanting to reconnect, with Emma refusing to play along. Now I’m wondering if maybe the roles could be a bit reversed, and perhaps his self blame for his role in what happened to Emma is what’s kept him from rushing to SB, and will keep him from being open to her advances when they see each other again, (if he is indeed Bae, his internal dialogue could be that he’s a coward who ran, just like his father, so he’s no better, and when he meets Henry, he could think he’d be no good as a father figure for him, just like his own father was bad for him). Emma knows she’s got an invincible heart now, so really, why would she be the reluctant one in their future relationship?

In the beginning she would be angry, but maybe also curious and try the get answers. After all she searched for him two years in Talahassee. Henry of course wants to know his dad. Emma did not want to react like Regina and shut him out. She should know that will not keep Henry from Neal, so she try to be social with him, cause there is also the problem that she has said that Neal is dead, so she wants make up for that too.Neal on the other hand, has so much more guilt after he see Henry and know about the adoption and give sombody 20000 Dollar, who said that he have problems with Temptation. He see that Emma has worked her live out and want not destroy her family. Also if Neal is really Rumpels son, he maybe don’t want that somebody to find out. He is the reason of the curse and feel guilty about that too and won’t to face is father either There are many reason that he will try to hide. But we know Henry is stubborn, when it comes to family reunion.

I don’t think she had broken down her walls enough to let Neal back in, especially after he hurt her so bad the first time around. She’s getting better, but you can’t forget that Neal is a big part of the reason she is the way she is. When she was talking about love being a strength she was thinking about MM and Henry, people who never hurt her. Neal’s a bit different.
December 10, 2012 at 2:15 pm #164338lilredParticipantThe thing is, for me, he isn’t what made her the way she is – not completely. The Emma Swan we see stealing the bug is just as shut off and guarded. I was actually bothered by this when the sneak peek came out – she already had her defenses up. And then Neal happened and we actually have a normal, giggly (seriously, just re-watched Tallahassee a few days ago and couldn’t get over Emma giggling.. 😆 ) young person in love..
There’s still years of Emma’s life unaccounted for and I’m thinking the first 17 years of isolation made her learn how to shut off to stay safe. With Emma, they seem to have filled in puzzle pieces so far this season – since family and allowing other’s to protect her has been missing – now she’s learned that she deserves to be protected, put first, and have a loving family: HUGE STEP FOR EMMA SWAN. The creators have been honest that romance will be tied to Emma’s story this season so that does seem like the next hurdle…
I don’t think she’ll be actively pressing for a relationship with Neal right away. Based in the Neal/Bae theory – I think he’ll have to work out some baggage first: being a father and working through his own daddy issues. When this is resolved on some level – he and Emma could both be ready for romance again…
Kind of want them to be redevelop slowly, subtlety into a functioning adult relationship.
But we know these creators love to shock! If the curse can be broken by the end of the first season, Emma and Neal may start back up before anyone could imagine.

I did some research on wikipedia on the Lost Boys, and Slightly is the only one who remembers his life before he was “lost”. Could Neal be Slightly and Baelfire?

Here’s an interesting quote from Bobby:
CARLYLE: The stuff that’s coming up, that I’m just about to do in the next three or four episodes, is mind-blowing. It just takes it somewhere else again. I was like, “Oh, my god!” You actually will feel sorry for Gold. There’s his love for Belle and he’s trying to be a better man, but we’ll see how long that lasts.
That was in recent interview (in which he was promoting his new movie). So…if Neal's coming back in episode 14-ish, which some fans guessed from MRJ and K&H…I guess that gives Rumple/Gold three or fours episodes to do really unspeakable things, particularly with the arrival of Hook and Cora. I'm thinking Bae is going to show up at the worst possible time. And it breaks my heart a little.

Thanks for that quote, Naomi. I really hope he’s talking about Neal because I think that he and MRJ would have really powerful scenes together if Neal is Bae.
Maybe it's just me, but I think this would be great for Carlyle because I feel they really haven't gave him much to do this season compared to last season. I just miss seeing him interact more with the main characters even if he was given his own episode with “The Crocodile” because last year at this time, one of the best things about the show, imo, was seeing the regular cast plus some recurring characters get to interact with each other more often and have the combination of who was interacting vary from episode to episode. For the first half of this season, we've got very little of that, and it became stagnating after awhile, imo, to just have the same characters interact with each other every episode. Not only that, but I felt like a lot of the regulars got shafted at the expense of Regina getting a lot of screen time instead of it being more balanced like last year. I mean it makes sense because her mom is one of the big bads plus her redemption is one of the big story lines of the season, but last year I felt like the regulars all got about equal time. Obviously Emma would get the most last season followed closely by the Charmings and Regina with Rumple not too far behind, but this season it seems like to me that Regina has got the most time, then Emma, then the Charmings, and then way behind them now is Rumple.
Of course, this year is only about half way done, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing. I just want to see more of the other main characters' back stories like how Snowing conquered the Kingdom since they've only touched on that for one episode despite it seeming like it was going to be a big story line this year. I would also of course like to see what happened to Baelfire because that was also set up to be one of the bigger story lines this year, and they've barely touched on that at all except for one episode.
Oh geeze, I didn't really mean to start ranting like that, but I'm really excited to see what Carlyle was referring to especially if he's talking about stuff coming up concerning Bae.

Hmmm, judging from this quote, it sounds like we’ll actually be sympathizing with Gold. He said “you will actually feel sorry for Gold.” So, I don’t think he’ll be doing anything bad. But rather, bad stuff will be done to him.
And I’m sorry about that horrible tweet. Fandoms have an uncanny ability to act like immature children sometimes. I love MRJ and I hope he becomes a series regular pretty soon. I loved his performance in “Tallahassee.”
December 10, 2012 at 9:00 pm #164429tiara_roseParticipantI must say that I always feel sorry for Mr. Gold. He burn down a castle, steal a dagger, kil a magician and 1 min later I get sorry for him. He broke a promise to his son, and 2 sec after, when he is digging in the earth to get to Bae. I feel sorry for him. He is taking a princess from a castle that she can be his caretaker and in the end of the story I feel sorry for him. He kill his own wife with ripping her heart out, when her true Love is watching and I feel sorry for him. He is a complete jerk for Belle, because he don’t say a thing about the magic he is doing in the basement, not telling her a single word, and i would have feel sorry for him, if she would not make him an offer for a hamburger date.
As long as Robert Carlyle plays him. I think I stay on his side and hope for happy ending for Rumpelstiltskin.

December 10, 2012 at 9:28 pm #164432faux paxParticipantI see a lot of moments coming up when we’ll be sorry for him. Rumple isn’t a empathetic character in any form but Bae is. I don’t think Rumple realized the effect his curse will have on Bae. Putting aside the fact that it may have forced him to betray Emma (as Neal–but we don’t know that for sure 😎 ), Rumple has killed, manipulated, and done countless other things all to get back to Bae. I can’t be the only one who thinks Bae is going to have an issue with that.
I can just see how it all plays out when Rumple realizes that all the things he did to keep that one deal–to get back to the one he loves most–will be one of the most damning in his and Bae’s relationship. That will crush him.
