If the writers do it the right way one can get used to it and objection against the idea might diminish in time…or not.
At first I wasn’t excessively fond of the conception that Rumplestiltskin is going to portray the Beast in this story. And now?
Everything is a question on how the writers handle their specific thoughts in making them tasty to the viewers.
On the other hand there is still a chance…nothing is confirmed, so no need to worry yet.
🙂I agree. The show has been able to sell me on a lot of concepts that I wasn’t a big fan of, but they’ve managed to pull it off. 😉

P.S. I love that nickname. 😆
December 13, 2012 at 12:09 am #164824elleParticipantI cannot wait for the reunion and confrontation between the two of them. Both Neal and Emma both seem to have not handled the seperation very well, and both still hold onto their memories of one another.
I am a bit disappointed that Emma will be leaving Storybrooke again. I missed her and Snow White when they were in Faiytale Land, though it was interesting to see them there. 🙂 As much as I do love the idea of Emma looking for Neal and meeting him again, I hope it will not be dragged out too long. She just found her parents, accepted her role as the savior, she is the sheriff of the town, and discovered that she has magic.
Also (I may be in the minority here) but I hope the reunion with Baelfire and Rumpelstiltskin is not immedialtly one with hugs. I don’t think Rumpelstitltskin dserves that, yet. Again, he is not someone that has ever seemed to have true remorse for what he has done. The whole, “No one mourned her,” quote on Queen of Hearts comes to mind. Like Regina, I think he should have to work for forgiveness.

And it wouldn’t just be about deserting him and breaking the deal… but everything he’s done in order to find him. I mean, go on seasons without him being forgiven. Or Bae dies and never forgives him. Maybe. He doesn’t really deserve it. IMO.
December 13, 2012 at 12:33 am #164827cinnamonhummingbirdParticipantI don’t want Baelfire to forgive Rumple either. 😆 It would be too OOC at this point.
Especially after his last words before falling into that portal were nothing but filled with tremendous anger against everything his father stood for after he became The Dark One. And of course underlined by the fact that in this essential moment Rumple, again, did back away from overcoming his fear and letting go of the power, believing in his son…That’s when Bae realized that his father is indeed a coward, because in this rather selfish act just for the sake of keeping all powers he’d risk everything, breaking a deal, killing people and even letting go of his family. 🙁December 13, 2012 at 12:41 am #164829snowfallsParticipantI don’t think Rumpel will be quickly forgiven either. But that’s why I’m looking forward to their future relationship so much. Watching Rumpel try to repent his past sins and change for his son will be interesting to watch. It kind of reminds me of what Regina is currently doing with Henry. Wanting to change for your child is a pretty good source of inspiration.

I agree. Plus, seeing Robert Carlyle and MRJ in the same room together is probably going to send my fangirl brain into overdrive. 😯
December 13, 2012 at 12:46 am #164832elleParticipantI want Rumpelstiltskin to work for it–to really work for it. Like he is with Belle. Both he and Regina are people who don’t think of the people they have hurt that much–Regina is more severe in this department. I want something to go not as planned for him. And I want him to truly understand how he hurt Baelfire–his son grew up alone in a world that he did not belong in, and probably struggled with all that.
And if Baelfire is Neal, he should know how he ruined his dream of Tallahasse with Emma, who has also suffered in all this as well.

Judging by his words and actions in “The Return,” it seems as if he’s willing to make a real change for Baelfire. In the scene with August in the forest, Mr. Gold gave him the dagger and said “I chose power once, and now I’m chosing you.” So, he’s at least willing to give up magic and power for Baelfire. So, that’s a good start.
December 13, 2012 at 12:54 am #164835cinnamonhummingbirdParticipantThere is definitely angsty stuff ahead for the Bae/Rumple reunion. And I slightly doubt that it’ll take the same turn as the Regina/Henry relationship immediately after what Bobby said in his last interview. Rumple is still a weak man, who is not willing to give away the only strength he has – magic. Even when he finds Bae and tries to reunite with him, tries to show him that he is intending to redeem for him, that he risked so much for him, Rumple will search for a way to somehow wind around the lost of his powers. The pre-DO Rumple had a slightly different personality structure than pre-evil Regina.
ETA, Exactly because he already opened himself to wrong-Bae (August) and got fooled in “The Return” I seriously doubt that he’ll let himself get near towards any emotional point with another “claimed Bae” that easily.
