Well, with that sneak peek I’m glad that the general consensus has shifted from:
“He’s not as hot as ________” to —-> “I think I’m going to like him.”
I suppose that’s what great acting and great writing can do! 😆 Although I had no doubt that MRJ could convert some naysayers with 1 minute of speaking. I think there’s something special about MRJ’s acting that just makes his characters feel less staged and more…genuine. Something like that. I’m not a drama expert, but I sure like having him on my TV!
Yes, I knew that the haters would start to come around when they finally had MRJ speak. (Of course, I love that at least in other places where people aren’t hung on looks, a lot of the consensus from the first episode was that he was the best actor of the four new characters introduced, and he didn’t even say anything. 😀 )
I agree that he does seem like a very talented actor, and I like that he’s on my tv again too. I’m also happy that from what I’ve read and heard about him from others, it seems like he’s very humble and appreciates all of his roles, so I don’t have to worry either about him possibly pulling a Katherine Heigl or David Caruso. (Actually no one on the show so far seems like that, which is nice.)
Now let’s see if I can still love his Once character after he inevitably breaks Emma’s heart on Sunday.
Bring it on, writers!
Yes, I don’t want to hate him or Emma after we find out what happened, but I’m definitely bracing myself for the worst.
Also wanted to add this since this is MRJ’s appreciation thread.
A tweet from Happy to Bae, sort of,

@MRaymondJames Adding you to the cast feels like we’re in an all star game. Love your work brother. Welcome aboard! Stache + goatee: urgh. (My ex once grew a stache and goatee purely to annoy me, which made me like the look even less). So when MRJ was first cast and I googled him, uh, well. 😆 He’s got a KILLER smile though. One of those smiles that makes the eyes crinkle. So as long as he keeps the facial hair under control and smiles now and then, we’re cool. 😉
Seriously though, I’m looking forward to seeing him in action. Never seen him in anything before, so this will be my first MRJ experience. It’s good to know he’s one of those actors who takes his craft seriously, especially considering he’ll be playing such a vital role on Once, someone who we’ve all been anticipating seeing, so we’ve got high expectations. From what I’ve heard about him, it seems they cast this role well.

Can you guys imagine the tweets that will pass between them?
Maybe, months from now, Robert could even refer to him as ‘son’ in a tweet…. 😮
Just had an idea about his first scene but I’ll just message you AntBee – don’t want to involve too many people in my psychosis/theories. 😆
November 3, 2012 at 3:17 pm #159243JosephineParticipantYay, MR-J is getting some love finally. But I can understand people have different preferences. I can acknowledge that Hook is gorgeous and sexy, but I don’t find him personally alluring. I don’t know why. I see how other people could, but he just doesn’t do anything for me. However, I did melt a bit when I watched the sneak peak and the Canadian promo. I guess looks aren’t everything, although I do think he’s physically attractive, too. But then I have a major crush on Robert Carlyle. 😉 There’s just something about Rumplestiltskin’s family. 😎

I’m not sure what he’d look like now, but there’s some pictures of him out there when he’s younger I think without any facial hair. He looks sort of weird to me like something is missing, maybe because he usually has it, so I don’t mind the mustache right now. Although I do sort of want to see him without it again to see if it would still seem weird.
November 3, 2012 at 4:49 pm #159255lilredParticipantDid he have facial hair in the opening for the season? I remember his hair being shorter (less curl) and I think he was clean shaven cause it sort of surprised me to see him like that.
Never mind: he still had facial hair.
It works for him, IMHO. Just like August’s stubble seems to suit him so very well. 😀
November 4, 2012 at 12:10 am #159310hmverhagenParticipantLol. I’d be mad if he broke her heart. Personally, it might be fun if she broke his and stood up for herself. AKA: Maybe she got preggo, ended up in prision, and was so fed up with his lifestyle that she dumped him.

Yes, I hope the tweet from Happy to Bae/Neal is an indication that they can tweet MRJ now that they’re revealing at least part of who he is and/or that it’s an indication that maybe he’s working with the characters that are in Storybrooke instead of being isolated from them.
I’m sure most people have already seen this, but this tweet made my day.

Far from it. Cheers RT @AdagioClockwork: #OUAT ! 🙂 Will this be the only episode you’ll appear sir? I hope not!November 4, 2012 at 2:57 pm #159351tinkerbellreturnsParticipantOh, Bee, thanks for sharing, I just saw that… “Far from it”.
Oh be still my heart!
