I thought anybody who leaves Storybrooke looses their memory. How would she be excluded from that?
Uh, because she was never cursed. They made it quite clear that Emma can come and go into Storybrooke anytime without any problems. Her and August left Storybrooke in The Stranger. She has no fake memories to lose. She was never cursed.
[adrotate group="5"]December 13, 2012 at 9:00 pm #164914faux paxParticipantWhat about Neal? It’s just another thing to add to the ever-growing list of issues he has with his father. I mean really, isn’t he one of the people most effected by the curse even if it was in a round about way? It did turn him into irony’s bunk-buddy; he hates magic and his OTL is the incarceration of it? Yeah…
@ onccewatcher, look carefully at the pics. The don’t look like their in flash-back mode.

Ehh, I think out of everyone we’ve met so far he’s the least effected by it. He was never cursed, he wasn’t ripped from his loved one. I mean, he was ripped from Emma because of it… but he also met Emma because of it.
So yeah he was effected by the curse through Emma. But, I wouldn’t say he is one of the most effected by it.

True, but few can deny that he’s as unaffected as Rumple intended. It defiantly did screw with his life in some big ways even if he wasn’t stuck in time.
December 13, 2012 at 9:20 pm #164918TheGoldenKeyParticipantI think it’s important to note that while MRJ’s character is named Neal Cassidy and that there are some similar characteristics, such as him being a petty thief when younger, he IS NOT the real Neal Cassady. Doubtful the writers would make him a bigamist or have him parent any other children. This is OUAT and not a televised version of Kerouac’s On the Road for goodness sake. Yes, there are many Kerouac and Kesey nods, but there is a difference between nods/easter eggs and the books. They did the same thing with Lost. So no, Neal isn’t a bigamist, he hasn’t fathered any other children, his arch enemy isn’t Moriariy and Emma is not Sherlock Holmes.
The Vancityfilm pictures most certainly seem to be of current day events. We know that Gold will ask Emma to go and find Bae in the next episode. We also know that Emma is not in any of the group shots within Storybrooke after the next episode or two. She has gone looking for Neal and will have found him.
True to their words, the writers said we’d find out Bae’s fate and I’m just hoping it coincides with Emma & Neal’s reunion end of January or early February.
I think Neal will be plenty upset with his father IF he finds out he has a son and has been kept from him due to the curse. But will Emma divulge this information to him? Or perhaps, now knowing that he is Gold’s son, she feels she need to protect Henry from Gold and his family and does not tell him.
Curious to see how it all goes down between them over a few pints of ale in pub 🙂

I’m not sure she could keep it from Neal. I mean it’s not like she can tell the whole town not to mention the fact that she has a kid and there’s no way she could try and convince him that Henry’s not his. The timeline would be too exact for Neal not to notice it and she couldn’t exactally say that Henry was the product of a rebound relationship–you don’t get many of those in jail.
But I think if she told him that she wanted Gold as far from Henry as possible, I think Neal would go along with it. He would know, but not say anything about it for a while so Gold doesn’t get any ideas.
What a depressing picture. Neal back in Storybrooke and hanging out with Henry, but not telling him…. 😥

I'm wondering if this is modern day scene or could it be a flash-back of Emma tracking down Neal after she got out of jail? There have been hints about Emma's having a bad experience with a married man…and I'm wondering if that is Neal…either he was really married or he could have lied and said that he was married. The real life Neal Cassady got two women pregnant at the same time…and was accused of being a bigamist. She was in Talahassee for two years…could she have been looking for him…waiting for him?
It does seem like this could be a flash-back. The bar is in Canada and we know Neal was going to go to Canada. Emma has her hair tucked behind her ears like she did in the scene where she was sitting in the jail cell with the pregnancy test…and Neal has on a black hoodie. I'm pretty sure they picked the bar because of its name…The Blarney Stone. The green drinks in the Season 2 promo picture look like they could be what is called a Blarney Stone. http://www.yumsugar.com/Happy-Hour-Blarney-Stone-1099917

I don’t know Faux Pax. As a mother, my child would come first but I can understand what you are saying. Would be hard running into the man that deserted you, left you alone with a baby, and not want answers or not divulge the truth about how much he hurt you and why. However, I just get the feeling that maybe she won’t be so quick to tell him.
I also don’t think Neal can come to Storybrooke or will come to Storybrooke. Jane Espenson mentioned something along the lines that it’s possible Neal just doesn’t want to go there in one of her tweets. So if he can’t enter SB or chooses not to return to SB, he would remain clueless about Henry. August certainly didn’t say a word about Henry to him when they met in Vancouver.
Just a thought thought about your theory though. If Emma realized that Gold is Henry’s grandfather, perhaps she did try to work it out with Neal. Maybe that’s why Reggie is so upset and why she told Emma “you will not keep my son from me!”.

It's posing as New York. The bar is in Canada because that's where they shoot the show.

They’ve used the bar before in the pilot. Just because the real name of the bar is Blarney Stone doesn’t mean they’ll make that be the name of it in the show. Just as Storybrooke is called Storybrooke instead of Steveston.

LOL Schmacky! I was just about to reply the same thing 😀 Why would they go to the expense of flying a whole crew out to NY for one scene? Not logical. There are at least a dozen pubs named the Blarney Stone in NY. Vancouver’s could easily sub for one of them.
