Ugh! I feel your pain! My excitement for Neal has reached an unhealthy level. 😯
December 14, 2012 at 4:02 am #164987elleParticipantI need this episode now! I’ve been waiting for the two of them to reunite since Tallahasse. Of course it will be interesting to see Henry and Neal–father and son meeting and all. Poor Henry has no idea of the truth. He’ll probably be a bit resentful of Emma for a bit for lying to him.
And I have to see more of Neal and Emma–I don’t believe that married when he was with Emma. The writers worked hard to make it seem like, from Emma’s perpective, he was a bad guy, but to show that he really wasn’t. And the way he was always loving and tender with her shows how much he loved her.
But I am wondering why Neal would run from Emma. It could be out of shame, but seeing as how he waited for 11 years to see her again, running would be the last thing he would do. The only reason why would be that he is afraid of seeing his father.

Can’t figure that out either. I think the shame/guilt is why he’s remained in NY – probably doesn’t feel he deserves to be reunited with Emma and have some happiness…hoping that the running isn’t just seeing Emma enter the bar, that they at least have some banter before Emma test’s the water by calling him ‘Baelfire’ and then he bolts! 😀
Interesting to see Emma take Henry on a road trip/tracking mission. Guess they couldn’t bare to be parted for possibly extended adventures so soon. If this is the big reveal of Neal also being Bae – I can’t see them having Neal or Henry learn the truth of their connection – yet. Wouldn’t be the first time I’d be shocked, but I guess I expect the writers to pull on my heart strings/drive me crazy for awhile and just have little interactions/coy comments the wreck my life between Neal and Henry. Like, if Neal is freaking out about seeing papa again, can kind of see Henry giving him a pep-talk about how he wishes he could talk to his father….but he died saving a family from a fire….
Then again, Neal isn’t an idiot. I can’t see him remaining in the dark about Henry for long. Henry is almost 11, Emma gave birth to him in jail – all pretty well known facts in Storybrooke if they don’t come up on the journey to Maine.
December 14, 2012 at 1:25 pm #165036naomiParticipantI think…regardless on what Emma and Neal reveal about their relationship, Henry will just figure it out. I would be kinda disappointed if he didn’t. 😉
He figured out the whole curse from a picture book, and almost everyone’s identity. He found the Mad Hatter by the docks when Charming had to use a spell. He found his mom in Boston. I’m sure he’ll be able to tell something’s up when Emma starts acting weird around “Baelfire”.
That being said…the writers might take advantage of Henry’s trust in Emma. Emma told Henry his father was dead, and he trusts her, so he might believe that’s true…but I think that would be denying how incredibly precocious Henry is.
And I don’t really like it when the writers aren’t consistent. Like “this character is extremely intelligent but on this one occasion they were not and therefore it moves the plot forward.” 😆
December 14, 2012 at 5:33 pm #165052lilredParticipantYeah, both Neal and Henry are smart enough (observant enough) to figure out something is going on. I do think Henry’s trust in Emma may factor in to him choosing to be a bit oblivious – for awhile. And also Henry really seemed to eat-up the story about his father being a hero and probably loved thinking that he’s come from such a long line of heroes! If Henry finds out what Emma thought happened, before Neal and August bring the other side to light, we might get an interesting parallel for father-son relationships: HenryVs.Bae and BaeVs.Rumple!
If he is Baelfire, I can see finding out about Henry and wanting to be in his life being the one thing that roots him to Storybrooke – since it seems he’s not ready to deal with Emma or Rumple yet. Can’t really think of anything else that could keep him there since he’s running from Emma in NY; what’s to keep him in town? Curse and border will have no effect on him..he could leave as soon as he arrives. But pretty sure Henry will keep him there. Just like he kept Emma rooted there! 😀
December 14, 2012 at 5:45 pm #165053schmackyParticipantThe reason Neal runs from Emma: Maybe Neal had seen an episode of US Bounty Hunters and Emma was on it so he knows how badass and scary she can be when she finds her target so when he sees her in the bar and she looks pissed he knows he needs to run if he wants to use his legs ever again.
Or not. Who knows. I’m excited to find out hehe.
