I think his birthdate was March 21st? 1977 – and I’m betting it’s false information. Maybe Bae landed in our world March 21st 1991, faked Amnesia when he couldn’t answer police/social worker questions – and the most they got out of him was that he was 14 years old. I read somewhere (think Tumblr theory) that 1991 was the year Beauty and the Beast was released in theaters so it could be another tie to Rumple – weren’t there like 3 more ties to Beauty and the Beast in his apartment?
I’m going to have to do a rematch of season 1 now – didn’t Emma say in episode 1 that (henry’s dad) doesn’t know. That seems pretty true..
Yeah, Emma did tell Regina that -‘the father doesn’t even know’.
‘Neal Cassady’ is obviously an alias, so, I’m guessing the DOB is just a made up date.
The year 1977 could just be a LOST nod. They used that year (with much significance) as well.
It is also connected to Stephen King’s Dark Tower series…one of the characters, Jake, lives in 1977 NY…the scene in OUAT where Rumple lets go of Bae and he falls through the vortex is the exact same thing that happens to Jake in the book.
Also, Stephen King wrote ‘Dreamcatcher’ and the story begins, I believe, in 1977. In describing one of the main characters (the hero- Duddits Cavell) SK says: ” The fact that he had Down Syndrome made him like Peter Pan.” (able to travel through worlds, albeit, telepathically)

Personally, I can’t decide whether I’m more of a SwanFire shipper or a SwanThief shipper.
I mean, if Neal turns out to be someone else, I wonder how many people would still ship Emma with Bae? EmmaxBaelfire has been a wildly popular idea since, well, The Return.
But NealxEmma is so awesome. Hopefully Neal is Bae and I won’t have to decide. 😉 Waiting with bated breath for every new male cast member they announce…which, apart from a few exceptions, have all been scruffy, 20/30-year old, brown-haired men. They must be doing it on purpose…
I’m with you Naomi – I’ve been a Swanfire supporters since I started in this fandom – but IF he isn’t Bae, pretty sure I’ll have to go with Swanthief. Whoever Neal ends up being, he and Emma need to be together. ASAP!
Just-call-me-a-hooker made the above gif series on Tumblr and I have to share it will MRJ fans! It’s based around ‘the way he looks’ at Emma and WOW! This guy can convey EVERYTHING (…almost 😆 ) in just a few scenes.
Got an anonymous message on Tumblr about how Neal probably doesn’t even remember Emma after 10 years…sure! That makes sense with what this actor showed us so far! 🙄

MRJ is what sold me to the whole thing. I’ve always been a big fan of Emma’s true love being Henry’s father (Bae) but I was kind of worried at the thought that they were going to have to try and give us something at least close to a Snowing relationship IN ONLY ONE EPP.
And honestly I was worried mostly on Jenny’s end. I haven’t seen much else with her in it and she’s so good at playing emotionally distant Emma, i was worried that that was more with the actress and that those two wouldn’t have much chemistry. 😆
I happy stand corrected.
But they nailed it. The reunion is going to be epic and I can already hear Florence & the machine’s “Kiss with a fist” playing in the background (at least on Emma’s part)…

Whether Neal?/Baelfire?/White Rabbit?/A Fairytale Character?Not a Fairytal Character he and Emma are each other’s True Love–I agree with you that they are truly in love with each other.
And I never once though Neal forgot Emma–why else would he keep the Dreamcatcher? August/Pinocchio new his address, which meant that they must have stayed in contact to a certain degree. 🙂 Why would he continue to do so if he forgot about Emma? And the way he looked at the card–there was a slight look relief but also fear and worry. There is going to be a lot of guilt for him–when he learns about Henry, about what Emma went through, and what Pinocchio did. Both he and Emma will not have it easy, and by no means shoudl they quickly rush into a relationship–they both have been apart for 11 years, after all, both told lies and both not knowing what the other went through.
It would be great and healthy, I think, for both of them to take things slowly, get to know each all over again. 🙂
