Inspired by this video Celebs Reveal: My Favorite Wizard of Oz Character asking now you:
What is your favorite Wizard of Oz character?Found the Wicked Witch of the West so gross that it made her interesting, but my favorite character was Toto. Cute, handy, loyal, seemed to be most of the time in a good mood. Good travel companion.

I like the Wicked Witch of the West more now because of the book Wicked which is just phenomenal.
I couldn’t stand the Cowardly Lion growing up."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 13, 2013 at 8:05 pm #179675MysteryKat25ParticipantI’ve always loved the Scarecrow. 🙂
I think it typically gets ordered in the way that we met them: we spent the most time with the Scarecrow, some time with the Tin Man, and not as much with the Cowardly Lion and I always seem to put them in that order. I adore the Scarecrow, though the Tin Man was awesome too – very sweet (Tin Man was a great mini-series by the way if anybody’s interested: think modern-day SyFy (I hate that spelling, it should be Sci-Fi) sequel with a twist but it has a LOT of nods to the original movie, not as familiar with the books, I still need to read them).
Speaking of reading I’m convinced that this show is prepping us for all the stories we’re going to have to tell to our children, grandchildren, etc etc because a lot of these I apparently skipped over as a kid but it’s making me want to dig deeper and find not only the movies but the source material too. And they say TV doesn’t teach anything…it’s getting people of all ages to go back to reading fairy tales!

Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing

I’m more familiar with the Fables version of her, which is quite an interesting and powerful character. Makes me want to see OUAT utilize her as well.

If you do not have a Kindle (or w/e) there is a KINDLE FOR PC app that is FREE for the computer. Which means…you can download ebooks and read them on the Kindle for PC program on your computer (and some ebooks are even FREE!)
Many of the fairy tale stuff that we read (in relation to this show) they are able to use because they’re in the public domain (aka written so long ago that they are no longer under copyright except in special circumstances – like Peter Pan belonging to the London’s Children’s Hospital). Many of those titles are also available for free so look around and have fun! 🙂
There are lots of classic literature novels available for free as well, though not necessarily as relevant to this show. (Things like Dickens, Austen, complete collection of Sherlock Holmes, etc etc).
Now that I know this, I am definitely looking forward to catching up on the “real” Oz stuff and seeing the differences / what things they might have pulled in for OUAT (after all, we saw flying monkeys in the book in the pilot – we know they like Oz and I for one can’t wait to see it).
And remember if you are looking for the free ones to be careful and make sure you know what you’re clicking. (Always makes me nervous so thought I’d remind everyone). There are also non-free (though fairly cheap if I recall) collection versions for those interested that put it into 1 volume I think.

March 14, 2013 at 4:05 pm #179926KebParticipantI’ve got all the Baum Oz books on my ereader from Project Gutenberg, which has tons of classics for free. And you don’t have to worry what you’re clicking on there.
