A part of me can’t help but feel that the nature of the show is always going to have this delicate balance where they deal with characters sufficiently and not include too many. For right now they have a lot of characters (regular, peripheral, and only when necessary). But then truthfully it’s sort of difficult to then see that some character like Jack was dealt with so quickly. That seems to be the only way of dealing with the majority of future characters. Then if they do add a couple of new characters to the mix I hope that they really do add to the storyline.
For instance I absolutely love the theory I have read about Hook and Ariel. It fits so nicely so in that case I wouldn’t then mind her being added as a ongoing character. (Although I would find it funny if Hook’s name was Eric Killian Jones 😛 )

That would be interesting. It’s the only way that that pairing would work since we would expect Eric’s name to be Eric…not sure how much of a “prince” that Hook would be but it would be interesting.
I agree it’s a delicate balance. As I’ve said many times this is Once Upon A Time, not Snow White so we do need to occasionally see other stories bleed in from time to time. It gives lots of potential for future plotlines. Never know when you’ll need someone with a certain skill set that only a new character can introduce.

Ariel is pretty much a requirement for me lol but others I would like would be Tarzan, Rapunzel and Tinker Bell

Something I was wondering is that for some characters it’s a shame that they were only flashback characters. It’d be nice to see some expanded though I know some might not work. But I was wondering how they could expand and could they maybe make use of the webisode format? I know it could limit the audience (though I wonder if dedicated oncers would be the ones interested or would it be across the board) but maybe they could do special tv short clips or something to make it available to the masses but also available on the web…
Now if we were to take the webisode approach what characters would you want expanded that might not get their own flashback episode. For instance Granny, I would love some on her especially with how likely would she get a flashback episode outside of Red? How about George how much would his flashback show if possible (is he going to side with Regina)?
Maybe even include random scenes (funny etc) of smaller characters such as the dwarves. Maybe more happy jokes or something…I kind of think of how Marvel movies have the ending scenes. But then for the Avengers they had the shawarma scene…
Honestly? I would rather not see many more new characters just yet unless they are crucial to the story. Too many of our current characters are under-utilized as it is and I’d rather not get hooked on a character to simply have them disappear like we had with Cinderella or Katherine.
Jorge apparently has a new gig, so it may be hard to get him back and it sounds like Megan may have a new series so we’re in danger of losing Red, as well. Of course, they haven’t used her much lately except when they need her to sniff out a trail… 🙁

I agree, 100%. I certainly hope we are not going to lose Meghan Ory. I’m really hoping that Jorge will continue to be apart of the fabric of the show, his character is interesting, and warching his newfound friendship with the dwarves could be fun to watch. Plus, now there are magic beans being grown in storybrooke! Awesome.
I do think that our current under utilized characters need some more development, but only if they actually progress the story forward. I don’t want to see them just used them as fillers.
Concentrate on our main crew, and use our secondary characters for story progression, before the introduction of new ones, unless it’s a crucial, very crucial, plot point that has been established earlier that needs immediate explaining.

Thanks, KFChimera! Yeah, that’s Megatron from the original Transformers series — well, a small Megatron, or else those are really big trees, but I was in a hurry. I might do another one to scale, if I can find a high-resolution image of Megatron or Optimus in a good pose.
