Every so often I go on a fanfic reading binge. And sometimes I find some really interesting stuff! So I thought we should have a thread to share what we are reading. 😎
It doesn’t have to be favorites, just ones that made an impact, or made you think, or made you feel something. Or just explored an interesting idea that’s not likely to make it to the show.
Let’s maybe not mention ones we hate though. 😛 (And, obviously we’ll leave out the adults only ones. 😉 )

I found this one quite moving, and the ending nearly made me cry.
I’m not quite sure how to classify it though, character and ship wise. I guess it’s mostly CS, but also Killian / Milah. (What’s their ship name?). Plus definite Nealfire nostalgia.
It’s an interesting approach. It involves time travel, and the primary interaction is between Emma and Milah.
It’s very … sweet isn’t quite the right word, but I’m not sure what word I’m looking for. Touching maybe. Here it is:

Keeper of Anna’s Awkward Babbling and Kristoff’s Fur-trimmed Tunic!
The last two OUAT fanfics I read were Killian centric. {Shocker}.
The first one was, Not so Rotten. Where after Killian gets his heart back, Belle apologizes to him for the ‘Not so rotten’ comment from season two. I need this to be addressed so badly on the show. Â I don’t think it’ll happen but I definitely need Belle to open her eyes more.
The second one is called, Your Heart, My Hands. Heartless Killian. Â I made a promise to myself, I’m not going to read this kind of fanfic because I know I’ll probably end up an emotional mess afterwards. Â But I thought I’d give this one a try and the action and the angst, is very well balanced. I can write angst/romance, sometimes fluff but action tends to be one my weaker points. And I liked the balance here.
I pretty much read Rumbelle or Swanfire fanfic exclusively.
Right now I’m into AU Rumbelle. Â I think because of their status on the show that I’m into the AUs now. Â Especially Storybrooke setting ones with no curse.
I’m eagerly awaiting the updates of the Rumbelle “Adoption” verse and “Remedial French”.

Original Powers is a really good one and is complete.  The storyline is fantastic!  I highly recommend this one because the plot is just so good! It’s long but I couldn’t stop reading it.
AU post 3×11. Rumplestiltskin’s curse breaks when he stabs Pan, but when one darkness falls, another rises. Enter the Black Fairy as the power behind the Witch. This is the price to be paid—war in the Enchanted Forest that our heroes may not be able to win. Now Rumplestiltskin must play a dangerous game where the rules keep changing…and nothing will ever be the same again.

Courage of the Stars is a good one as well (complete too) but it is heavy SF. However, the whole premise of it is interesting.  It is centered quite a bit around Neal/Bae so if you don’t like him you may not want to read this one. But it does put a different spin on some previous events it toys with time travel but not quite. And Cora is a major bad guy in this one, so if you are interested in that, I would look into this one.
If there’s one trait Baelfire shares with his late father, it’s that he’s willing to do anything to get back to his family, even dabble in some of the darkest of spells and bending the laws of magic. AU to Quiet Minds.

Gold’s Eleven is an interesting spin on Ocean’s Eleven but is heavy on Neal and Gold and is not too nice to Hook and Regina is the big bad of this story, so be warned.
Recently released from prison, Danny Gold has a plan to strike it rich, get his revenge and win back his true love. But in order to pull it off, he’ll need a crew as crazy as he is! Contains all your favorite characters! Complete

A while back, when discussing the Emma/Neal dynamic, Once’s writers posed the question, “…how do two people who love each other come together when there’s so much hurt?” This story is my take on a possible answer, set post-322. Complete
