My initial response in my head was something I can’t write on a family friendly board 😎 I guess, though, stay-at-home dad could figure into my original thought, too. 😆
My one fic has him working with his dad but that was only after they reconciled. I don’t think they’re going to reconcile this season. I’ll be really shocked if it happens before the season finale, if at all this season. So I really have no idea what he’s going to do for a living. It is a question I keep asking myself, though, along with what will his reaction be to Belle. It will be quite a shock to discover the Dark One has a girlfriend who is not only sweet and kind, but appears to be younger than he Neal is (kinda…age is really irrelevant on this show).
Maybe Gold will buy his son the ice cream parlor next door. He did give a library to Belle. 😉

Which is awesome, because I really think they need to get the next Operation off the ground, and Emma’s espionage skills are – to be honest – not that great, because she didn’t really try. Wouldn’t it be great if we could see Neal and Henry running around Storybrooke, meeting conspiratorally in alley ways, talking in code, and spying on grandpa? 😛
Although…looking at that pic of Neal with the sword…did any of the spoiler reports mention Henry was in the scene?? Wasn't Gold missing too? What if Cora and Regina use the dagger to control Rumple and force him to bring Henry to the? Hm.

That would be great. 😆
My heart aches if they make him take his own grandson. He has enough problems as it is, just imagine the guilt he’ll have of kidnapping his own grandson for them. I’m just getting so depressed for the rest of the season…Belle has amnesia, the Evil Squad finds the dagger, Neal’s going to probably be angry with Gold, Emma will be angry with Neal, Hook exists, and there are only a handful of episodes left with probably none airing most of March. And I’m worried about renewal on top of it all. What will happen if it isn’t renewed! I just can’t imagine. I HAVE TO HAVE RUMPLESTILTSKIN ON MY SCREEN NEXT YEAR!
Grr, I think I need a nap…or a hug. 🙁

Try both. 🙂 On the bright side, despite all of the horrible things happening to our favorite characters, there is hope for the next episodes airing soon in March. Also, I don’t think we have to worry about there being a 3rd season. This show is still one of TV’s most popular shows. It’s just when it has to compete against the Superbowl, Grammys, or Oscars that it really loses some viewers.
February 17 — ‘Manhattan’
February 24 — (Break for the Oscars)
March 3 – ‘The Queen is Dead’ (?)
March 10 – ‘The Miller’s Daughter’ (?)"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

Then May is sweeps so they’ll want to keep the final few episodes for then. I would just feel better if they told us earlier than summer that the show was renewed. I wasn’t worried last year, but I am this year.
Back to Neal’s vocation, maybe he could work at the Animal Shelter. I think there is a vacancy left by David. 😕
