In sneak peek #2 video clip we see a yellow rose on Daniel’s tombstone. What is up with that? The first thing that came to my mind was The Yellow Rose of Texas. I looked it up and it is not only a song but was a TV series, sort of a copycat of the TV series Dallas. I don’t think they would pull an “It was all a Dream” like they did in Dallas when Pam got out of bed, heard the shower running and then got up and went into the bathroom and found Bobby Ewing staring back at her….back from the dead because it was all a dream.
I went back to An Apple as Red as Blood and watched Regina’s dream sequence and then watched the scene where she wakes up in bed and gets up and goes in an checks on Henry. There are some similarities between the two scenes….but surely not.
In The Price of Gold we hear a shower running in the background (it’s Graham in the shower.) In Tallahassee, Neal asks Emma if she wants to shower first. In The Stable Boy Henry uses the code, “the eagle is in the nest” meaning “mom is in the shower.”
Last year K&H were asked about Blackbeard and Kitsis answered…
Kitsis: “I can say that he does not shower very much.”
Dallas was known for its cliffhangers. We’ve literally seen people hang off a cliff in Once. In one of the most recent interviews cliffhangers were mentioned.
Recently K&H were asked if Zelena could be faking the pregnancy Kitsis answered …
Kitsis: She could be. We have seen her talent with magic. But that seems to be very easy. I would hate to end the show on information like that just to buy it back and say, “Just kidding!” That would seem not fair.
When I read that answer it did make me think of Dallas bringing Bobby back from the dead.
So if we have some nods to the Dallas TV series…it means???
Any ideas?

A yellow rose means friendship. In other words, Cora is trying to signify to Regina that she wants to make amends.

This is in the section labeled 4×20 “Mother” spoilers. What is the problem?
It wasn’t originally. It was in 4×20 “Mother” episode, not spoilers. I have obviously moved it before placing the mod note.

Your post mentioned nothing about moving the post, thus my confusion because I posted it in the spoilers section. If it was not in this section it was an accidental error on my part as I understand spoiler policy.

I am curious about this scene of Cora reaching out to Regina. I am looking forward to this episode.

Different cultures have different interpretations of flower colors. For example, in Russia, it’s a cultural faux pas to give yellow flowers to friends. In Russia, yellow flowers don’t signify happy friendship; rather, yellow flowers are what Russians give to the bereaved when someone dies or place at a grave. So Cora placing a yellow flower on Daniel’s grave makes sense in the context of yellow flowers being the color of mourning or remembrance of the dead.

As to whether Once Upon a Time could all be Henry’s or Emma’s dream, I’ve had similar thoughts.

…I have a hard time believing they would pull a Dallas but there do seem to be hints to that genre of television shows. In “Mother” we heard Cora tell Regina she needed to start building a “Dynasty.”
I like the information about the yellow rose in Russia. Zelena’s name is Slavic and Regina means Queen in Romanian so you may be on to something.
