When the stars align in the sky and on the hat, Rumple can free (I refuse to use that other word) himself from the dagger. Then he sets out for the world, and heaven help the people of earth…apparently. Does this mean he really does want world domination? What is Rumple’s plan? what is his motivation? Why is he even doing all this?

I’m not sure what they’re going to do with this finale. I will say the finales are always the most challenging to timeline, though–they cram a LOT into them, and as they did tonight, bounce around a lot more in time.
The stars thing at least explains why Hook’s still breathing and Rumple didn’t race out of town before the curse came. He needs his magic to keep his magic.

But I think the bigger question is…how in the (beep) does he think Belle would be okay with that??????

Well, you heard his plan for compensating for Storybrooke’s destruction: He was going to sell it as he saved her and Henry cuz that’s all he could do, and be a hero to them. He’s GOOD with words and persuasion. He’s trusting in that, I think, to keep her going along with his scheme, whatever the heck it is.

I can’t even with Rumple right now. That being said, I do like the idea that the stars in the hat have to align with the stars in the heavens in order for the major magic to happen. Still, it would have been nice to see a sense of urgency from Rumple beforehand because he’s studying star charts and anxious for this particular deadline.
Rumple said the rest of the world had better not stand in his way. But that begs the question of what they would stand in the way of? Being dominated by an all-powerful wizard, who has a bookish consort and young apprentice? That just sounds like a black comedy caricature of a fully dark villain. Somehow I just can’t see Rumple sitting upon his dark throne while keeping the military at bay with threats of magical impending doom. Would he enslave the people of Earth and make them do his bidding? The town of SB is too small for Rumple’s great ambitions of world domination? That just sounds like a cartoonish villain.

Just had a thought. The whole stars align thing is very similar to Disney’s Hercules where Hades had to wait for the stars to align so he could free the titans and make an attempt at taking over Mount Olympus.

Keeper of FelixMaybe Hades will be one of the villains for season 5. With Panic and Pain. Would love to see another male villain! If season 5 is split into 2 parts, Jafar & Hades. A male villain centric season (I think that’s right). I don’t think Rumple will duel with Dumbledore. I would think getting the rights to HP or anything associated with HP would cost a fortune. (Now if the Harry Potter Park had opened at Disney instead of Universal…) and JKR would have to be involved. Rumple vs. Merlin…and Colin Morgan as Merlin!
I really thought that finding the author of the book and Rumple releasing himself from the dagger’s hold would be story lines for the series finale.
