All this discussion about parents and grandparents have gotten me to visualize a precarious scenario for Henry.
Let’s say that Neil is Bae and also Henry’s father. This would make Rumple/Gold Henry’s grandfather. Neil/Bae’s reappearance will have a complicated relationship with both Rumple/Gold and Emma. We already know Snow and Charming are Emma’s parents, and Henry’s biological grandparents. Emma is of course, Henry’s biological mother. Cora, as Regina’s mother – who adopted Henry – thereby being legally Henry’s mother and now Cora is leagally Henry’s grandmother.ergo:
Snow and Charming –> Emma
> Henry
Rumple/Gold
> Neil/Bae
> Henry
Cora
> Regina
> HenryThis would result in all 7 believing Henry belongs to him/her, resulting in many conflicts between all the adults seriously affecting Henry. This doesn’t account for Hook – who may consider Henry as a hostage to get to Rumple/Gold.
You are right on track…and there is a connection between Hook and Baelfire, if Baelfire is Neal like many of us believe. Baelfire’s mom became a pirate and hooked up with Hook. Which puts Hook in a type of step-father position to Baelfire…step-granfather position for Henry…like in the mini-series Neverland….where Hook was in love with Peter’s mother and was a father figure to Peter before there relationship fell apart. If Baelfire is Neal then Hook will look at Henry and see Milah’s grandson. That could be interesting. Makes me think of the movie Hook…where Hook goes after Peter Pan’s son.

But I don’t think he has sent it “yet”. Go back to the season opener: the first scene is Neal receiving the postcard, the second scene is our introduction to Aurora and Mulan, the third scene is when we get to Storybrooke. But, now look at the “real” time line. It starts in Storybrooke and our hero’s don’t go to after-curse-FTL until the end of our Storybrooke story. So, that tells me that Neal receives the postcard much later than the season opener. Maybe we’ll see Pinocchio (soon hopefully) sending the postcard and then Neal receives it and that’s when he makes his entrance. Who is? I like all of the theories.

Omg, I love the name Grandpastiltskin so much. I’m going to have to steal it for one of my fics, The Lady Belle. I haven’t heard that, even on Tumblr.
I think Neal does have some rights. He had no idea he had a son. I’m not saying he should get custody, but the boy needs to know his father had no idea of his existance and Neal should be able to get to know his son. If Emma had the chance, despite her sordid past, then why shouldn’t we give Neal the same opportunity.
I don’t see Henry’s story or even the show as anti-adoption. I don’t think Eddie and Adam went into it with an agenda in mind. People like to put meaning on things that don’t exist. Twist people’s words around. I think this is just a version of fairytales where adoption is a part of the story. Henry’s not a poster-child for any cause.
Here’s the thing, Neal loves Emma. Tallahassee made that ever so clear. He didn’t trick her because he wanted to get away with anything. He was genuine about them living an actual normal life together and I think if he knew she was pregnant, he’d probably fight August on the whole idea. At the time, he thought he’d just be bad for her and left her. So, no I don’t think it’s going to turn into some kind of custody battle but I see him now sticking around her, trying to win BOTH of them back now that he has no reason to be out of her life. Now he can go on and prove he’s living a clean life and wants to do right by his family.
