Maybe I am reading too much into things (but around here that is probably fine). The red queen is NOT a character in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, that book features the Queen of Hearts, as it uses a deck of cards theme. It is Through the Looking Glass, the sequel that features the Red Queen, as well as features the White King and Queen in a chess theme. Ok back on topic, I really hope that they haven’t killed off Ana and I don’t think they would as this would destory the happy ending and would contradict the epilogue material of Wonderland.

I agree that the illustration probably isn’t the Red Queen. I think Ana is fine, for the time being. The White Queen may have been mentioned in the Victorian England version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that Alice herself wrote but, I don’t think that would be the version the writers would reference in OUAT because they’ve said they’re going to tell a story that doesn’t require prior knowledge of what’s happened in OUATIW. So, for now, I’m assuming the book is the version found in our world and has no Red Queen. I’m still waiting to see a high res shot of the page but, from what I can make out, it doesn’t really look like Ana either, especially given how much the illustration at the end of OUATIW resembled her.

It’s probably a stretch but, I think the illustration resembles Cyrus’ genie bottle more than it does a particular person. Also, considering the Lewis Carol source material, I think it’s far more likely something tragic has happened to Alice post-OUATIW, than Anastasia. It’s deliberately ambiguous; they’re not telling us anything concrete yet. I’m sort-of reading it as we may not have seen the last of Jafar (because of the bottle thing) or maybe Cora (if the illustration is of the Queen of Hearts).

The illustration is definitely the Red Queen. They may have used the wrong book for Emma to hold up, but I’d say that’s just because the general audience are more likely to instantly associate with Alice In Wonderland as opposed to Through The Looking Glass. The illustration is based on illustrations from Through The Looking Glass.

She’s a red chess piece with a crown. Definitely the Red Queen.

The in-story explanation could be that someone already has the book that Wil really wanted.

The drawing in Will’s pocket is something he probably had BEFORE he broke into the library (especially if he’s been stuck in Storybtooke since Snow cast her Curse), and he probably was looking through the Alice’s Adventures book because it’s a tangible reminder of Wonderland itself and his friends Alice, the White Rabbit, etc.

I’m thinking maybe Wonderland happened much after where we are currently in Storybrooke.  His saddened look could also just be that he hasn’t reunited with Anastasia yet? It’d be weird but maybe they writers had to do it this way so they could bring the knave back. Though now that I’m thinking about it, I think there was an episode in wonderland where they come back to storybrooke and we see emma’s car so events were happening not too far off.. Hmm.. just wouldn’t make sense of Anastasia is dead.

Also, if Will really did come back to see Marion/ Robin Hood, why haven’t we seen them do a reunion? How did he hear of Marion’s return and her getting sick?

Unless they are planning to break their canon, WL took place during S2 of ONCE.

I love the pictures, Phee! Thanks, my copy isn’t illustrated.

But, I’m still thinking Ana’s not the likeliest character to be dead. She’s just got so much story potential left, with her ties to Ashley and backstory with how she met Will, how she learned about the looking glass, ect. whereas, apart from her deceased mother, Alice’s story has been generally explained and concluded. Personal favoritism aside, if I was going to make trouble for Will by killing someone, I’d kill Alice cause (unless she turns out to be the writer as some have speculated) she’s not as useful to the OUAT universe. That said, I really hope neither of them are and that both of them join the show some time soon.

Who knows? Will can be homesick, either way.

I’m a bit more concerned about Will getting maimed than those two being permanently separated, with the title for 4×10 and all this violence with Hook…

“Obviously for people who watched [Once Upon a Time in] Wonderland, they are like, “Wait, he had his happy ending. He went off with the Red Queen.” We are going to tell that story, what happened and what brought him back to Storybrooke. And that will probably be in the later half in the season, and it will be done in a way that if you’ve never seen Wonderland, we’re going to fill in the blanks.”
