How did you guys feel about OUAT’s interpretation of Jack? I thought it was an interesting twist to make her a woman, but then again, they also made Ruby the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood.
My honest interpretation? I really disliked her. A lot. Useless character that I never want to see again, I don’t need a flashback of her, I don’t need her story, just let her be dead. The twist that she was a woman was fine, but not nearly as exciting as Red being the Wolf. Tiny was one of my least favorite episodes this season (I think I ranked it right behind S, B and T) because the flashbacks were so flat and dull and predictable (also didn’t like the SB stuff. The only good part of that episode was the Rumple, Emma, and Henry stuff). I’m all for strong femme fatale’s but she was annoying and pointless. She also bears my name so my interpretation might be a little personal. π π
I guess I agree too.
For me, meeting Jack only proved that jerks attract jerks. I was shocked at first when Prince James abandoned her atop the bean stalk after she was poisoned and then I remembered, “Wait a minute. This is King George’s son, the biggest jerk in all of fairytale land. No need to be π― here.” π We didn’t learn so much about her character except that she’s just as devious and selfish as original Prince James.
Thank goodness Snow married David. I think if she were betrothed to James, she might be stand him for a bit and then probably would demand an annulment. π
I liked the metaphor though, physical tiny vs. psychological tiny and it was good to finally learn Charming’s real name.

June 28, 2013 at 3:50 pm #198755DemiletoParticipantHeh, I don’t rule out seeing Jack again. Kalinda Vazquez, writer of Tiny, confirmed on twitter Jack had been to Wonderland:
@applegirlie21 Not at all! When Jack says she slew a Jabberwocky, it meant she's been to wonderland, which is where she got the mushroom.

Since Jack mentioned a wise woman in her chat with Anton, I could definitely see her being the one to kidnap Henry Sr. for Cora. π
ETA: Nice, embedded Twitter post! No more screencaps of those! π
June 28, 2013 at 3:57 pm #198758RumplesGirlKeymasterEmbedded tweets. Oh happy day!
Hmmm. If we see Jack, it will be in OUATinWL but I hope not. I don’t like her.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 28, 2013 at 4:01 pm #198759PriceofMagicParticipantI disagree with that post defending Milah. She allowed Rumple to think she had been kidnapped by pirates and was going to be subjected to sexual assault. Had Milah been open with Rumple and said she was leaving him for another man, he probably wouldn’t have stopped her especially if she had left Bae with him.
Milah didn’t care much for Bae. She and Hook “discussed” about going back for him when he was old enough but they never did. They had at least seven years to return and they didn’t.
Rumple loved Milah more than she loved him. Whereas Rumple was willing to go aboard a pirate ship to try and get his “kidnapped” wife back, Milah often told him that she wished he’d died in the ogre wars. Milah wanted to be an “honoured” widow, Rumple wanted to make sure his son wouldn’t grow up without a father. Rumple put Bae first, even when it cost him his reputation and dignity, whereas Milah only cared about herself.
Milah was the more dominant partner in the marriage, Rumple just went about his life trying to keep her and Bae fed, clothed, happy and with a roof over their heads. Rumple must have been as miserable as sin in that marriage. He was considered the village coward, he was lame, had no friends and his wife hated him, and yet he still put on a brave face for Bae’s sake. He still stuck by his family even though it must have been tempting to just up and leave to a place where nobody knew him and yet he stuck it out because of Bae.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixJune 28, 2013 at 8:46 pm #198808obisgirlParticipantI feel Rumpel’s pain, I really do but after reading that post, I understood Milah’s pain and her motivation too.
Doesn’t mean it changes the way I feel about her. She’s still a very unlikeable character but I agree, she could have just told Rumpel that she was leaving instead of leading him to believe that she was kidnapped by pirates.
June 29, 2013 at 12:26 am #198859PheeParticipantIt’s sorta ironic how Milah started disliking Rumple and called him a coward for just running away from a situation. Pot, meet kettle.

I could totally see that happening.
