Now, this is a song connected to Regina in so many ways:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk63Psr3wzY
“Windmills of your mind” best covered by Sting.

I can just picture Regina siting in her living room by the fire place, sipping the strongest apple cider she could make and bitterly contemplating her life…

Why this song? First and obvious – she’s miller’s daughter.
Second, which I think it’s pretty safe to assume, she is also Don Quixote – her horse’s name is Rocinante and she IS “tilting at windmills” i.e. battling imaginary enemy, that is, the happiness of everyone else. It resonates in her head and she’s trying to control it but she really can’t. That, and the distant memory of the person and the happiness that she could’ve had.
Third – just look at the lyrics:

Round, like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel.
    Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel //connections to Rumple?…
Like a snowball down a mountain //…and to Snow White πŸ˜‰
    Or a carnaval balloon
    Like a carousell that’s turning
    Running rings around the moon

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping // as if a nod to Alice’s White Rabbit and his clock
Past the minutes on it’s face
And the world is like an apple // pretty self-explanatory
    Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it’s own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream // the Storybrooke dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
    Someone tosses in a stream.

Keys that jingle in your pocket // Regina’s keys that open every door
    Words that jangle your head
Why did summer go so quickly
Was it something that I said
Lovers walking allong the shore, // Regina and Daniel, evidently 😈
Leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand

    Pictures hanging in a hallway
And a fragment of this song
    Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong
When you knew that it was over
    Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair

Yes, I really can’t wait for OUAT to be back… πŸ™„

There’s an extra verse in the Leonard Cohen version of “Hallelujah” that seems to remind me of Rumple somehow.

    It goes:
“I did my best, it wasn’t much/ I couldn’t feel, so I learned to touch/ I told the truth, I didn’t come here just to fool you/ And even though it all went wrong/ I’ll stand right here before the lord of song/ with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah”

That whole song, “Hallelujah” is Rumple. Lenard Cohen had about a hundred verses to it and would pick and sing different ones each time he sang it. My favorite version is John Cale’s, but it seems like it’s covered by every artist under the sun and their brother.

My current pick for a Once-related song is This Kiss by Faith Hill. That has fairytale written all over it:

    Cinderella said to Snow White
“How does love get so off course
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse
Ride me off into the sunset
    Baby I’m forever yours”

It’s the way you love me
    It’s a feeling like this
    It’s centrifugal motion
    It’s perpetual bliss
    It’s that pivotal moment
    It’s, ah unthinkable
    This kiss, this kiss
    Unsinkable
    This kiss, this kiss.

I’d say Payphone, by Maroon 5 (the clean version of the lyrics is written below):
If you like the song, you’ve got to check out this fanvid using it (the video uses the explicit version). It’s incredible πŸ˜€ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoA5PVDBnrM

Yeah, I, I know it’s hard to remember,
The people we used to be…
    It’s even harder to picture,
That you’re not here next to me.

You say it’s too late to make it,
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down

    I’ve wasted my nights,
    You turned out the lights
    Now I’m paralyzed,
    Still stuck in that time,
    When we called it love,
But even the sun sets in paradise

If happy ever after did exist,
I would still be holding you like this.
All those fairy tales are full of it.
One more stupid love song, I’ll be sick.

Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow,
    ‘Cause you forgot yesterday,
Gave you my love to borrow
    You just gave it away

You can’t expect me to be fine,
I don’t expect you to care
I know I’ve said it before,
But all of our bridges burned down

I’m at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it’s all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
