So some of us have taken those silly personality quizzes…but who do *you* think you are the most like? Which character strikes a cord with you?
For me, long before her OuaT incarnation, it has always been Belle. Ok, I don’t relate to the loving the beast part of it. (I can’t say I would so easily see Rumple’s good side in Belle’s shoes, and she is far braver and more noble than I have ever been.) However, I too enjoy reading, and people often think I’m odd (although that is more a trait of the Disney character.) I love the line she has in the Broadway show: “In the town where I come from, the people think I’m odd. So I know how it feels to be different, and I know how lonely that can be.”
Belle’s desire for adventure is something I greatly relate to. Day to day routine often bores me- I’m happiest when I get to explore and try new things. That’s why I love traveling so much. I don’t care to just sit and watch either. If I’m at a beach, I’m the first in the water and the last to get out- not sunbathing on the shore. If there are things to climb on, I’m climbing- at least to the point that I trust myself not to fall! As a kid, it would often happen during hikes that my mom and sister would stop but my dad wanted to go to something a little farther down. I would tag along with my dad because I didn’t want to miss out on anything!
I’d like to think that like Belle, I tend to see good in people, but it might be more true that I’m sometimes a bit naive about giving people the benefit of the doubt!
Someone I don’t relate a lot too is Emma- since I have never known abandonment. I also don’t know what it’s like to have walls up. I grew up in a close knit family that was open almost to a fault. We tell each other everything. I probably have the opposite problem and reveal more of myself than I ought to! I wear my heart on my sleeve.
[adrotate group="5"]April 23, 2013 at 2:05 am #187937KebParticipantI’m 100% Belle, perhaps with a tiny bit of Snow, and like AngieBelle, it started a long time before Once. I got paid a compliment this weekend that had me just glowing–my aunt said I’m very good at finding what people can do in a situation, the positive stuff–and my head was just like OMG I do find the good in people! I don’t think she knew how much that meant to me.
I’m a reader (and a writer–and Disney’s Belle does write in the Christmas sequel) and never really fit in, and I’ve also got a little bit of a hunger for adventure. I’m about to get my masters in English (less than two weeks!!!), and I taught English in Japan for a couple of years (and that WAS a great adventure). I tend to be among the first to volunteer for something, and there’s nothing that means more to me than my family. And someday, I hope I will have the chance for an amazing romance of my own, but for now I guess I live vicariously through our Belle.
And a library is about the most romantic gift I can think of.
I’d say the character I’m least like…Cora. Please don’t let me ever be like Cora…

April 23, 2013 at 2:20 am #187949wewerecursedParticipantThough I’m a huge bookworm who likes to poke fun at grumpy people and isn’t easily intimidated like Belle, I think I might be more like Snow. I can be annoyingly optimistic and adore the thought of true love. I don’t take crap from people, I’m loyal to a fault, and animals tend to follow me around π I also have a way of worming my way past other peoples’ defenses. People have told me that upon meeting me, my chipper attitude and loud friendliness made them want to dislike me but they just couldn’t. π My best friend actually said that! The beginning of MM and Emma’s friendship is a lot like ours!
But I also have a few of Emma’s traits. I’m sarcastic as heck and my hackles tend to get easily raised. And I have a temper.
The one I’m least like? Hmm…maybe Ruby. I’m not cool enough. π
April 25, 2013 at 1:47 pm #188590obisgirlParticipantI’d definitely relate to Belle when it comes to adventure and exploring. I love traveling (even when it sucks). I climbed the Duomo in Florence and I am horrified of heights. π π I didn’t go all the way to the top on the outside, but I went up to the inside top. Beautiful view into the church down below.
When I was younger and single, I’d relate to the Rumpel’s beast, thinking, okay, what if I never find someone and I’m all alone for the rest of my life? I’m always referred to as the sweet girl and (at that time) and never the girlfriend. I even remember crying after watching one of those dating commercials. I was 24 then.
And now I have a wonderful boyfriend who I love so much. And we’re both geeks. We watch the show together. I write fanfiction, he loves his board games.
He totally rolled his eyes when I told him that I wrote a OUAT/SGU crossover fanfic and was like, You have problems, hun π π And I thought, I know but I have no regrets. π π
April 25, 2013 at 2:27 pm #188613PanTheManParticipantThough, I’m a boy, I really have a connection with Mulan. She is a character that really knows how to make tough decisions. She typically makes the right decision, or at least, does what she says she’s going to do. Emma tells her to chop down the beanstalk, and Mulan does it because she promised Emma she would. It wasn’t that she’d given up hope. she made an agreement.
I admire her fearlessness and skills.
Also, the way Mulan defends Aurora for Prince Philip’s sake… very touching.
Also, Mulan’s original story (When Will my Reflection Show…) really speaks to me. Impersonating a male soldier to protect her dad – such feels! I have a thing for war stories. I really hope we get her back story!
Something else, K&H have spoken about adding a gay/lesbian couple to the show. They said in an interview that they really want to do it. Given that Mulan’s story has a theme of gender identity (dressing up like a boy) i’m wondering if Mulan could be part of a lesbian relationship. Probably not, since they’ve given her a romantic tie with Prince Phillip, but who knows… At times i’ve wondered if it’s Philip or Aurora that Mulan has feelings for. Could she possibly have been helping Prince Philip because she too has feeling for Aurora? Probably not, but who knows.
April 25, 2013 at 3:06 pm #188632laurieanneParticipantI think I identify most with Snow. I tend to be optimistic and hopeful and might overlook some important things in trying to see the good in people and situations. I also identify with her attempts to be a mom now to Emma, because she wants that experience with her daughter. And probably because Emma needs a mom. I also tend to be very hard on myself when I mess up, just like Snow with her darkened heart- although in all honesty I have never killed anyone. π But I understand that feeling of “I can’t get past this!”

Really? I haven’t read anything about that, but I would totally ‘ship Mulara if it ever happened. Was this in an interview they gave?

Hmm, actually I think I probably relate to Snow in those respects too.

I found an interview from WonderCon (not sure what that is) last year in which the interviewer paraphrased some of their comments during the interview. I couldn’t find any quotes for that topic specifically, just a reference. But the interview is excellent!

April 25, 2013 at 9:09 pm #188732TheWatcherParticipantI 100% relate to none another than the infamous Dark One.
Rump’s entire relationship with Milah is me and my ex all the way. I totally get and understand his cravings for power and in some twisted way I think every choice he’s made within the show are the same ones I would have made had I been in his position. I’m a pretty strange person >> to say the least.
