https://twitter.com/AdamHorowitzLA/status/432612290135719936 It could be damage control or it might not be. Whatever the truth is will soon be revealed. For people like A&E, who’ve got over a decade of experience in the business, to let out that big a spoiler would be a terrible blunder on their part. So either they’re just really bad at not spoiling or a “reporter” (who is really a fan) misquoted them. Adam says to believe him, not the person who did the interview. I’d be curious to read what @DianeJReed has to say in reply to Adam’s assertions that he was misquoted and that it was taken out of context.
It’s also out of their hands when so many of these spoilers leak. The curse breaking at the end of Season 1, Rumple and Emma finding Neal in NYC, August turning back into kid Pinocchio, Greg and Tamara kidnapping Henry, the Jolly Roger gang arriving safely from Neverland with Charming included, and Rumple stabbing Pan while Pan transforms back into Malcolm were all major spoilers that were leaked thanks to the paparazzi. Who’s to say this death won’t eventually add up as a confirmed leaked spoiler within the next few weeks? There’s only so much stealth that cast and crew can manage in situations like these. You can’t just magically have the entire show filmed indoors to hide all spoilers either when Storybrooke’s exteriors are a major part of the show’s setting. The town of Steveston is public property. Like Jo said, it’s a TV show, not some classified government secret.

Adam told me on twitter that Belle is a core character…..come on, that’s just not true. I would rather have him be honest than say things he thinks we want to hear. I mean, Belle with her lack of screen time, with all characters ignoring her and with her past being over looked (not being given a chance to confront Hook and Regina)…….Belle is a core character? I think he wants to try and please people, thinking that they will forget all about what he says……….but we don’t forget.
February 9, 2014 at 7:38 pm #244036SlurpeezParticipantI know a TV show is not like guarding state secrets, but for the co-creators to be so careless as to give away a potentially huge spoiler would be amateur. And A&E are not amateurs; they’ve been in this business for well over a decade writing for prominent shows like Lost. What they say is something they can control. This wasn’t a pap photo leak; it was an interview. If @DianeJReed did not misquote @AdamHorowitzLA then why did she retweet all of his clarifications on her Twitter page? It’s possible she did make a mistake. She is not a professional reporter; she a fan of the show who conducted an interview for a fan-made website.

February 9, 2014 at 7:51 pm #244038RumplesGirlKeymasterI do think it’s damage control but it’s damage control one of two way
1) OMG we’ve said too much about spoilers (despite being mega #nospoilers people)
OR
2) We didn’t realize what we were saying in a fun little interview and now our fandom is reacting (as this fandom is wont to do with…EVERYTHING)

I know this particular interview wasn’t a pap leak, but I was more or less just saying in regards to spoilers in general. I already listed several big spoilers that were leaked before, so it’s not like A&E have had the best track record for being able to prevent huge spoilers. Perhaps this time around they have, but it could go either way.

Adam’s on twitter often he knows how this fandom reacts and he’s probably better at dancing around questions. Eddy was the one who actually said the two bigger giveaways that’s part of what makes me think that Eddy gave away a little more than Adam usually does and what doing that would do to the fandom since Eddy just avoids twitter altogether. To be honest I find that a little messed up on Eddy’s part since when it comes to these interviews where fans hear things and react the way they do Adam is always the one stuck with the check.
February 9, 2014 at 9:00 pm #244047MatthewPaulModeratorI’ve been observing people saying ” if it is Neal, why they didn’t just kill him at the end of Season 2?”, and I have an explanation. Neal’s part in Rumple’s story simply wasn’t resolved. Season 2 ended with Neal arguing with Rumple yet again, and going back to not trusting him. The Neverland arc focused so much on Rumple’s redemption, and patching things up with Neal was a huge part of that. Neal finally forgave and trusted Rumple during “Think Lovely Thoughts”, and furthermore after he saw Rumple sacrifice himself for everyone first hand in “Going Home.” Neal’s character arc with Emma also needed to further be addressed during these episodes, but how that relationship could progress in the future depends on who you ship, nor am I going to get into that. So whether you believe he’s getting the axe or not, that father-son relationship had to be further developed.

I was one of those tweets. Normally, I would never call Adam on anything but I can’t buy the excuse that he and Eddy were misquoted. I’m sure that phone interview was taped and everything they said was to the point.
The fact is that when asked about Neal’s growth, as compared to Belle & Hook’s, Adam’s response was vague. Eddy then came out with the Huntsman/Neal comparison. I hope they prove us wrong but it’s looking more and more like Neal bites the big cookie.
PS anyone know who Dena, on twitter, is?

They talked about Belle’s growth?
February 9, 2014 at 9:22 pm #244055TheGoldenKeyParticipantThey talked about Belle’s growth?
They talked about Belle in that they had plenty of plans for her thus her character would be growing. So yes, I consider that growth of a character and their statements being somewhat confirmations that she isn’t leaving the show anytime soon.
