^^^ I only tried to follow the evidence with Belle there’s two hang ups for me to believe it’s her. I think I put together a good solid and objective theory and that theory rules out Belle based on a couple of things.

Nice breakdown SK! Now, I’m begrudgingly admitting the death will likely be one of the 8 (but holding out hope that Mitovich just got it REALLY wrong!!), but I still don’t see it being story related. Like you said Betsy, Neal does have a lot of story left. But so do Hook and Belle, the other 2 of the most speculated choices.
Two things — we found out today that they’ve got Colin officially making the publicity rounds. Yes, I know, ABC publicity pretty much wants to have Hook’s babies, but to send him out on publicity rounds that might be seen by more than those already fans of the show and therefore not as familiar with ABC being perceived as playing favorites, leads me to believe he might be safe. Am I saying it’s Belle or Neal? No –
because I also think about Rose McIver’s comment that “it’s not who you think”. I guess she could be referring to Rumple since he’s the most obvious, but since Mitovich released the spoiler, along with confirmation it wasn’t Rumple, pretty much the spoiler itself and the fact that it’s not Rumple go hand in hand? Ok, now I’m going in circles.
New theory – they planned the death and leaked the spoiler (half blitzed because I still don’t know why they’d blab when they did) but it’s not 3×16 as some suspect, it was for the 3B finale but they changed their mind when they realized how ludicrous it would be to off one of the regulars!! Yup, that’s my new theory and I’m sticking to it!!

^^^ Thanks! It really means a lot to hear that I put a lot of work into putting it together. I’m truly hoping they’ve reconsidered like you said Jenna there’s plenty of room for stories with ALL. Of the regulars. I personally think that having Colin doing pub now is a sign that he’s going to be billed as a leading man next to Josh. They do seem to love their men when promoting this show lol
I’ve been thinking lately that it really makes the most sense for the death to be in the finale. If you’re gonna risk pissing off a big chunk of your fandom by killing their fave, you don’t do it mid-season and risk people blowing up and dropping the show. You do it in the season finale and then fans have a whole hiatus to rant about it, deal with it, and with any luck have the disappointment out of their system enough to come back again for the next season.
SK – I put my ridiculous reaction to the news that Colin’s doing publicity in the CS thread. Here, I’ll say it does appear to be a good sign for Colin/Hook. It’s one thing to stick the guy on some posters, but a whole other thing to send the actual person out to mainstream media (The View and GMA, 2 of the Holy Grails of American media no less) to publicize the show. It’d be risky to have the guy who dies doing the publicity; if you’re not already watching and seeing an interview with that actor actually gets you to watch the show, that viewer may not stick around after the character kicks the bucket.

I like Lisa’s theory as well, that two will die and one will come back. I know most believe they mean Rumple, but one can hope that because they’ve already excluded him as being someone who dies, they’ve already confirmed he’s alive thus not part of the “one comes back” statement. I think that Neal may die in S3x16 and someone else in S3x22. It might explain why we haven’t seen him on set.

If two of the actors have been absent from filming then there’s probably a good chance that both disappear for while and only one comes back. I mean Belle and Bae have both missing since 3×16 with the last evidence for each being the filming shots and the tweet respectively. We’ll know more when they start filming the finale, the two things that have me leaning toward Bae and away from Belle are the things about planned flashbacks for her next season and the other thing about her being at the graveyard scene.

We should be able to theorize without people taking it personally and you have succeeded in handling this objectively.
Now, I’m SF all the way. I’ll be brokenhearted if Neal is the one that dies. However, I won’t let that stop me from theorizing or openly discussing the possibilities that it could be him or anyone else for that matter. As much as I love the character, he’s still only a character on a show. I’ll grieve and shed a tear but I’ll move on as there are still plenty of other characters to follow and enjoy. 🙂
Part of me is hoping that while they may have said a main character dies, that they mean main in terms of fairy tales and not casting. Maybe they kill off Ruby or Dr. Whale? Back in S2, they did tell us that a “beloved” character would die and it was Cora. Cora was anything but a beloved character! smh
I also think that the “real” death is coming in S3x22.
One thing is certain, we are in for one heck of a ride yet AGAIN! Bring it!! I’m ready!!
