Sometimes writers will write a big scene ahead of time because it needs a lot of work or revision or they want to make sure they really nail it. So it’s possible it was written by A and E already but not inserted into a script until a season finale. Just something else to consider
yeah I thought about that and I really didn’t feel confident enough making that jump so that’s why I didn’t include it in my “official” theory. I just think they way they said it to me doesn’t quite fit with them writing an end point like that decided that this characters story will be over and filling in the rest to meet at that point? I think at that point there was a few episodes that hadn’t been written yet right?
I believe when they said that, they were filming 315/316. And at that point A and E had only written 312. We got the info that they wrote 319 much later. But then there’s Rose’s statement that she had seen the script with it but that doesn’t add up to what A and E said.
And I think that’s sort of a huge point here. There is a lot of seemingly contradictory information floating around. We interpret that A and E wrote the death which means 312, 319, or 322. 312 is out, obviously. 319 is a maybe. 322 we have virtually no idea. Rose seems to think that she’s read it but like I just pointed out that flies in the face of what A and E said.
So I really think we’re back to just “wait”

I did. I think you presented an unbiased objective look at it, which I appreciate.
When it comes to this spoiler I am trying very hard not to say anything at all. Mostly, I’m just angry at A and E for thinking that killing a character is a good idea. I will never believe that they couldn’t think up more story for that character or that this character’s journey is “done.”
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 4, 2014 at 2:31 pm #249905Killian JonesParticipant^^^ I mean they do collaborate though so they might not have written the whole episode but they did work on that particular part. Didn’t they do stuff for Skin Deep even though Jane is credited with writing the episode?
So if they did help write that particular thing Rose could have seen the script for that episode and it could have been for any of the episodes that we’re being worked on during that time.
I don’t think we should rule out the death being in a non A & E credited episode.
that Rose comment is a pretty fair piece of evidence then that the death is not in the finale since she says she saw the script and at that point the finale hadn’t been written yet.

Thanks RG I really tried to put a lot of work into being objective. Yeah I agree I don’t see how they felt that any of the main casts stories are just done there’s possibilities for all of them. I mean there’s so much to expand on with them.

well. Again, we don’t know what had or had not been written yet. We can’t rule anything out and we can’t rule anything in. We are not actually in the writing room. We only have an idea of how A and E run their writing room. And for all we know, A and E decided to to do something different because of how big this moment will be.

I thought Adam did confirm that he hadn’t written the finale by that point in time I’ll have to re-check the dates to make sure though. From what I’ve understood there’s a fair amount of collaboration but I mean yeah what goes in the war room is anybody’s guess.

Not the finale per se, but I’m saying that we don’t know what they write when they write it. We don’t know how A and E have decided to approach this. It’s possible that they sat down and wrote it out over the summer for all we know and showed it to the cast in order to let them understand their character journeys for all of S3.
We simply don’t know.

She USED to be a regular character (season 2) and then just disappeared. So bringing her back and killing her off to never have her return again would take care of all the “what happened to Ruby” quips.
But that would be a low blow to all the fans freaking out during the hiatus.

Well I did some snooping and I mean he posted that he was working on the finale on the 26th. I mean it’s completely possible that they write things out of order they move lines and all that I just think it seems odd for them to decide on a character death before the story arc began then write in the middle to fill in the gaps and lead up to that. I don’t know maybe they decided before that this character is done and instructed everybody to write it out toward that but they way they said seems as the developed the story this is where we ended up.

aside from that I think Ruby is only in the finale so bring her back in the most important episode of the season just to have a body to throw at this thing? I think they’re really better writers than that!
