^^^ I think it was innocent too but we dissect everything since that spoiler we’re just looking for clues to give us some degree of closure over which character we’re losing lol.
They were innocent pictures until you looked deeper and it became very clear that they were not innocent at all.
[adrotate group="5"]January 31, 2014 at 11:23 pm #242141RumplesGirlKeymasterI agree a lot with what Sarah said. I do think this is a tool. S3 ended on a series low of 1.9 and about 6.66 million live views. Death = viewers, especially if you put it out there now.
So maybe the death was pre-planned but the RELEASING of this spoiler is baffling unless you’re looking at marketing.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 31, 2014 at 11:25 pm #242142SlurpeezParticipantThere is a reason I don’t believe what he is saying is 100% true. I believe there is truth mixed in it, but not completely genuine at face value. Here’s the reason why: The spoiler. The spoiler, make no mistake, is a tool. It is a very manipulative tool to keep fans anxious about their favorites pending the start of 3B so they’ll watch. The anxiety is already doing what it was supposed to do. It’s provoked conversation, which generates interest, which helps to cultivate viewers for Once’s return in March. It’s ingenious, but it’s also very manipulative. It turns people into tools, and thus makes them objects for use, rather than individuals to value.
That makes sense. While I think it WAS pre-planned you’re right that it’s being used to their full marketing advantage. In the world of Hollywood, any buzz is good buzz, but not in my opinion.

January 31, 2014 at 11:28 pm #242144Jenna_BParticipantMy guess is either Belle or Neal. And I do believe that whoever it is, it is NOT “story driven”. It’s just too…awkward. I know deaths shake things up but really, there’s a whole lot already going on, what with Rumple being who knows where and the WW coming. They need to toss a death of a major character in there?
Why do I therefore, think Emilie or MRJ? Because their characters have been seriously under used and over abused. Their storylines in general seem awkward at times. I remember being that passive viewer and trying to put my finger on why the Belle thing just seemed a bit off to me — and when I went looking, found that Belle was only supposed to be in those first couple of episodes until Emilie’s pilot didn’t get picked up and A&E jumped on the chance to option her. It just always seems like they don’t know what to do with Belle. She’s not nearly as fleshed out as other characters are, which is extremely unfortunate. Emilie came to the show with some good credits on her resume already – most notably, of course, was LOST, but then she was in that movie with what’s-his-name-vampire-boy…if she wants to move on, she’ll get work and quickly.
Neal’s the same way. They’re getting him fleshed out pretty well, but again, it’s a little more awkward than other storylines. And his great potential storylines – reuniting with Rumple! exploring his past with Hook (why exactly wasn’t that touched on the ENTIRE 11 episodes they’re in NL?) getting to know his SON he just found out he has…are just passed over in favor of the next big bad. And like Emilie, his resume’s impressive. There is no way he didn’t and doesn’t have other options. And when you’re an actor and underutilized, the first thing you’re going to ask yourself is “what am I doing here?”
Which is why I also don’t think it’s Hook. In regard to character, whether people like it or not, they’ve given him some pretty decent screen time. ABC’s publicity certainly features him, whether A&E have control over it or not. And sometimes, if the boys upstairs deciding your future think someone/something’s a moneymaker – the guys “in charge” are going to be told there’s not a chance they’re getting rid of him/it. Besides, Colin’s the biggest freaking fanboy there is. And as an actor, he has some decent credits but we have to be honest, this is his first really BIG American project. And while there’s European work available, let’s all be honest even if it does sound insensitive – American film & tv is where you want to be if you’re trying to make a name for yourself. He’s not established enough to leave for ‘bigger and better’ projects.
Charming – once they decided to keep him after the pilot, and after making it known they were going to kill him, practically gives him a ‘get out of jail free’ card.
Jennifer – yeah, don’t think so. Jen’s the fangirl standing next to fanboy Colin. She does an insane amount of actor to fan interaction that she isn’t required to do (hi, tweeting during almost EVERY new episode? While in the airport waiting to get on the plane back to Vancouver? Hel-lo) No way they’re letting her out of her contract.
Ginnifer? Nope. She’s one of the biggest names they have on the show. And I know people are all “but she’s having a baby in real life” – but she’s an actor, not an accountant. She doesn’t have the luxury of ‘taking time off’ and trying to return to her job after a year or two, because by then she’ll be forgotten.
Regina? Rumple? Yeah. I don’t think there needs to be any commentary. They’re not going anywhere. They ARE the show. Period.

Think about what they did for The Miller’s Daughter episode: #OneWillDie
it was a marketing campaign designed to boost numbers even though we all knew that Rumple wouldn’t die and that it was Cora.
This creates panic and anxiety and people will tune in because they HAVE to know how it goes down and who it is.

Yeah I get that because there was a week to speculate over it then we got the answer. With this it’s just gonna wear us out. This isn’t stirring up viewers for the next episode it’s more of a I’ll read about it after it’s done effect I’m worn out from all this speculating. Even when the show comes back the way it feels is we’re just gonna be worried more about the death than the episodes.

Every episode is going to be “omg…now? is it now? ok, how about next week!?”
This is the black cloud hanging over S3B

The spoiler got released when it did because the PA tweeted about having heard that someone was gonna die. Once that info was out there, Adam and Eddy had no choice but to confirm or deny it officially. I do think they’d have released the spoiler before S3B started anyway, but they probably would have saved it for an ad campaign that would have launched maybe a couple of weeks before the show comes back. Just enough time to get people, (the general viewership who see the TV promos, not just the online fandom) worked up about it and generate some momentum to hopefully boost the ratings for the first ep back. I can just imagine the promo, dramatic music, “Before the season is over…one…will…diiiiieeee,” with dramatic individual shots of the cast and each one fades to black. But they got beaten to the punch when the PA tweeted about it.

Exactly what a downer, so some people might take it like “might as well wait till it’s over and if it’s my favorite character why bother…”
February 1, 2014 at 12:17 am #242155sweetgrassParticipantI agree with JennaB. I think Bae or Belle is most likely and possibly Jared (for non story reasons because his parents want him to have a more normal childhood especially given how mean the fandom can be). All for non-story reasons. I can’t believe that this truly and purely for story reasons.
I also think that Season 4 will be the last season. i just hope the writers real give these actors good stories and really try to explore the relationships. the actors all seem like nice people and are all very capable. I want the story to do right by these actors.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.
