The writers have already introduced so many characters, and are planning to introduce more. But an important factor of Storybrooke is that it is a small town. People can’t just disappear, so who do you think will make a reappearance, and whose story do you think we may see more of?
I personally don’t think we’ve seen the end of Lancelot.
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this on the forums, but are we going to so willingly believe Cora, the most evil person… ever, that Lancelot is dead? Even the writers have pointed out that they’re surprised people are so willingly believing her about this; e have no body, no backstory, no confirmation of this whatsoever except her word.
During the Once Upon a Time roundtable, Daniel was saying that if we were to see Auror and Mulan again it would probably be involving some major point in the story, like they enter a realm and someone else is there, or something.
I think that’s what will happen: if we had a reason to go back to FTL post-curse, I could see Mulan and Aurora on their quest to find Prince Philip, and finding a near-death Lancelot, and this somehow having a significant effect on the plot.
What do you guys think? 😉
[adrotate group="5"]January 1, 2013 at 3:44 pm #166715obisgirlParticipantAs much as I don’t want to see him again this season, I think August will by the season’s end. My second option would be Lancelot because we never saw a body, just took Cora at her word that he’s dead. My third choice would be Aurora and Mulan — I think there’s more story to tell there.
January 1, 2013 at 3:48 pm #166716PriceofMagicParticipantI ended up voting for all the choices.
August- His story hasn’t finished, he needs to face the consequences of what he’s done and reunite with Gepetto before he can disappear from the series to make way for new characters.
Sydney- If they ever do Aladdin, Sydney has to turn up for that.
Hansel and Gretel- They’ve not really shown many kids in Storybrooke, we only know 4 by name. In True North, I got the impression that Henry kind of fancied Gretel. Perhaps as the series progresses and Henry gets older, we may see him wanting to become romantically involved with Gretel.
Cinderella- I don’t want her to have a major return but since Rumple brought magic back, I would’ve thought she would have gone to Charming with concerns that Rumple may come after her child again. I would like to see her reaction to Belle especially with Belle’s opinion that Rumple isn’t a monster. Cinderella may say otherwise.
Aurora and Mulan- We know Mulan is going to turn up again and Philip too, makes sense that Aurora gets to reunite with Philip. I don’t think we’ll see these characters past season 2- I don’t really care for them. I hated them in Broken because they took time away from the main characters in Storybrooke and they were alright when they were with Emma and Snow because they were with Emma and Snow. They need main characters to support them IMO.
Other- I don’t think we’ve seen the last of King George.
Lancelot- I think Cora lied, he’s not really dead. However, the story is going just fine without him.
All magic comes with a price!

Yes, I voted for all the choices too. I’m sure we’ll eventually see all these characters pop up again someday. It just may not be for that long depending on how long they can get the actor.
August – He still needs to reunite with Geppetto, and tell Emma about his part in convincing Neal to leave her, and of course tell both of them about the money he stole. Of course, if Eion Bailey’s new show is a hit on TNT, he may not be able to be back that often if at all, but I think they’ll try to give as much closure to his storylines before that.
Sydney – If Revolution gets cancelled, I suspect we’ll see him again. Or if he gets a break from that show, and it’s able to fit in with OUaT’s schedule, I could see a “where is he and what is he doing” moment.
Hansel and Gretel – Like PriceofMagic, I could see them bringing back Gretel as someone that Henry might go out on a first date with or date depending on how long the series runs because he would follow in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps of falling for a girl, who was stealing when he first met her.
Or they could just come back and be a reminder to Henry and Regina that although Henry might be able to accept and forgive her if she truly does follow the path of good from now on, other people probably won’t ever be that forgiving because she didn’t care if Hansel and Gretel died, and then when they succeeded, she separated them from their dad, perhaps forever if hadn’t been for the Curse and then Emma breaking it, because they would rather be with him than live with her. If Henry and Gretel were older, I think it would be interesting to have them explore something like that assuming that Regina’s attempted redemption doesn’t fail in the near future.
Cinderella – We still never saw what happened to Prince Thomas, so maybe they’ll eventually give closure to that storyline. If nothing else, we’ll probably see Jessy Schram pop up in like she did in her last appearance just to show Ella is still around, and they haven’t forgotten that she exists.
Lancelot – Yes, I don’t trust Cora either. I think she’s like Regina in that if her lips are moving, she’s probably lying. (Off topic, I still laugh every time there’s discussion in fandom about whether or not Regina was lying about something, and then it always turned out so far that she was.)
Aurora and Mulan – I sort of agree with PriceofMagic. I don’t hate them, but it wouldn’t bother me at all if we don’t see them very much past season 2. They can be like Ella and pop up every now and then, but I was very disappointed in how much screentime that they took from the main characters, and then once they started to become interesting, they come up with a lame way to keep them from going to Storybrooke with Emma and Snow. I’m sure we’ll see them again and have closure to their storyline with Prince Phillip’s soul, but I didn’t like how they built these two characters up for half of the season only to have their storyline fizzle out because the writers never really seemed to figure out how to balance doing episodes with present day Storybrooke and present day Fairy Tale Land.
Other – I agree about King George. I would also add in Neal, Graham, Jefferson, Paige, Maurice, Smee, and basically almost any character that we’ve seen that didn’t feel like a one and done type of character. Like I think of Milah, Anita, Quinn, Stealthy as one and done type of characters that probably won’t be seen again even in flashbacks, they’re just characters that are there to exist in one episode and never be seen again although they may be referenced in other episodes. Or characters that are very minor, but suddenly get a burst of screentime like Billy/Gus-Gus probably won’t pop up again either because they get their big moment as a recurring character, and then they’re never seen again.
January 1, 2013 at 6:39 pm #166724elleParticipantAugust will have to appear again–there is so much of his story that has not been told. His past is still a mystery a bit, and we have yet to see him in the present, other than him waking up in his room at Granny’s inn. I also would love for him to man up and apologize to Emma for leaving her twice and for splitting her and Neal up.
Sydney is still locked up in the asylum, I think–how long has he been in there?–but I still think there is more story in him. He is the same Genie from Aladdin, so he has to appear if they ever introduce that story into the series. Seeing as how the actor is still busy and might not be able to appear, they might just get a different actor.
Hansel and Gretel should also appear, I think. I’d honestly like to see them again. And Gretal does follow the tradition of stealing from the men of this family. 😉 I guess I’d like to know how they are doing–we see the Woodsman briefly at the end of We Are Both. He still has his garage.
Cinderella was not bad–I don’t think the show did a good job of showing the hardships she went through. Nor do I think there is much interest for her character–I would like to know where Prince Thomas had disappeared to, though, when she broke her deal.
I would love to see more Lancelot, Mulan, and Princess Aurora. I know they are not as popular as the other characters, but I have really grown to like them, and hope we get more of them. I don’t believe that Lancelot is dead–Regina lied about Belle and she learned much from her mother, it can rightly be assumed that Cora lied about Lancelot.
I gotta add Jefferson, Grace and Neal and even King George. 🙂 They are a bit more central to the plot–they have to appear.
January 1, 2013 at 8:09 pm #166725JosephineParticipantI voted for the following, although all have the likelihood of returning.
August
For sure he’s returning. The storyline is just too open and the last we saw of him in present day was opening his eye as a wooden man. You just can’t leave the story there. Plus, with Neal coming to Storybrooke, we need a confrontation between him, August and Emma. Someone is going to end up in the jail cell after that little encounter and it isn’t going to be Emma.Lancelot
We never saw the body and Eddie and Adam said not to believe everything Cora says. So I think he’ll show up in Storybrooke at one point.Aurora & Mulan
They never finished that story, either. They’re off on their quest and will show up again some day. Probably with Maleficent in the mix. I don’t think she’s gone for good, either, even though Emma stabbed her. In the Disney “Sleeping Beauty” the prince stabs her, too, so maybe she survived the first time if Aurora’s mom was the original sleeping beauty.Others:
The Huntsman
Although Graham is dead, we can still see the huntsman, and have, in the past. We still haven’t seen Snow White use her little reed whistle he gave her in case of emergency. Plus, I have a feeling he’s met Belle, too.Maleficent

January 1, 2013 at 8:35 pm #166727maryrose d.ParticipantI want August back so he can have a well deserved slap from Emma and they wont leave his storyline one as they did. We know he is alive in some manner, and he has a lot of explaining to do. Also he was a good role model for Henry, even with what he did, and Henry is in need of another role model because it looks like Regina will be looking towards her evil side, Emma is going to be searching for Bae, and Snow and Charming are going to have to deal with Cora as well as any other evils which will arise in Emma’s absence, so even with all August is, he is allows there for Henry and makes him feel like part of what he does.
I want Sydney to come back just because I think he needs to face justice. Not for the whole Katherine thing, which is bad enough, but for the King as well. He never did face justice for killing the king, and even if it was in fact Regina’s plan for both Katherine and the king, he did both. Also I really want Snow to slap him, for the king, and for having her blamed for the murder. I would like to see Emma’s reaction when Snow tells her that is the man who killed her grandfather. Also I bet we will see him in some flashbacks.
I think there is a story with Lancelot and would hate to see the opportunity for showing the story passed up. We don’t know if he is in fact dead plus there is the story of how he became a sword for hire. It would be nice to see that plus to add there looks like there was more history between Snow and him.
Finally I find it almost inevitable to see Aurora and Mulan again because of there stories not being revealed yet.Keeper of Swanfire's dream catcher, the Blue Fairy Plot Device, the contact name "Her", the lanyards, the trigger, the Netherworld room and necklace, Charming's quote on Thanksgiving, and PP's pic of Henry

January 2, 2013 at 6:48 am #166766carolanneParticipantPersonally, I would like to see The Huntsman return in more flashbacks. It would be interesting to find out who else he knew, and interacted with in Fairytale Land.
