Wow – I’m seriously impressed at the thought you two have put into this, and judging by what you’ve come up with, I’d be shocked if Dr Whale turns out to be anyone other than Dr Frankenstein.
After reading your suggestion of the ogres perhaps being the creatures that Dr Frankenstein created, I found a picture of an ogre, side by side with an image of Marvel’s Dr Frankenstein’s Monster and the likeness is striking. Actually I think it may be your photograph (not you literally but one you’ve put together lol) so I’ll leave that for you to post if you wish.
I also found it interesting that the ogre we’ve seen, is described as “scarred ogre” in a few articles. Plus the clothes that his Storybrooke counterpart, the “burly man”, wears (presumably as a uniform for his job as the maintenence man) loosly resemble the attire of a Frankenstein’s Monster seen outside of the show.

I like many of Liz’s points and even referenced her here on this board regarding the pictures of the bouquet and Marvel’s Frankenstein in my earlier post, just as I referenced Michelle Straub (Gypsy here on this board) as she is a regular poster on OUAT/FB and we also have a private group where we run theories off each other. I always give credit where credit is due. I think there are quite of few of us, throughout different sites, that have the same theory. Thus, I would never take credit for being “the first”, I think it’s great that we all have these forums available so we can bounce ideas off of each other. While, we all may be leaning towards Frankie, we all have our different reasoning as to why and that’s what makes it so interesting. For the record, I’ve stated earlier that I thought he was Dr. Frankie based on Jorge Garcia’s announcement that he was to play the Giant, as I thought the Giant could be the monster. However, Jorge hasn’t been on set though he is going through wardrobe changes now. I’ve also still pondering Jekyll/Hyde, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera and The Big Bad Wolf. Cheers!

Interesting enough, Hulk Hogan did a song called American made with lyrics “He’s got the red, white & blue running through his veins.” So, I wouldn’t give up on your Hulk theory quite yet.
Ander’s recent tweet made me think of True Blood with the “Ya’ll”, “ain’t” and “gonna”. That’s why I’m still considering the Big Bad Wolf & Dracula.
Love your posts as well 🙂

Frankenstein is considered the ‘catalyst’ for horror movies.

Y’all are NEVER gonna guess who my fairytale character is & I ain’t tellin. Just know it’s gonna be worth the wait. #OnceUponATimeI’m wondering if we are all getting too close and he is trying to throw us off the Frankenscent with the “fairytale character” comment?
Frankenscent! 😆 Lots of stuff seems to fit for the Frankie theory, but yeah, that “fairytale character” bit kinda doesn’t.
Guess we’ll soon see! I’m still wondering what people will be calling him in ep 1 and if we’ll get his real name then, even if we don’t get his centric ep until a bit later. Especially now, seeing the pics from ep 1 where it looks like he’s gonna be pretty central to that scene where Regina tries magic, I wonder if they could have a scene like that, where he seems to have a decent amount of dialogue, and other characters are talking to him, without giving away his identity.
I guess if people just call him “Doctor”, that could cover both his personalities if he’s both Dr Whale and Dr Frankenstein, without giving his name away completely.

David Anders’ teasing we’ll NEVER guess makes me wonder about Neverland, but maybe that’s just Anders wanting to throw us off the game. Here I am back to second-guessing myself. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the reveal when it comes.

And the clues from Archie’s notebook that you referred to…imo…just backs it up. Then there’s the “Prometheus”/ Lindelof connection, and David Anders tweet about ‘red, white and blue’ -hints at the documentary “Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film.” And Midnight Dreary- I agree! I would LOVE for him to be Frankenstein…he’s my favorite monster.
September 14, 2012 at 2:13 pm #153936marilouParticipantWould it not be hilarious if the writers/producers of OUAT decided to wait till the end of season 2 to reveal his identity? I’m not so certain that the average viewer cares that much about whale and it would be an excellent way to send the fandom into… lightly veiled madness.
Gypsy – see, that is the problem with ideas, I don’t think I stole this theory from anyone (not consciously) but I doubt I came up with it by myself.
I think I saw a post a few days ago of, what I think was the original owner of the theory, dated august 23.
September 14, 2012 at 3:07 pm #153937UrsulaParticipantMary Shelley (the author of Frankenstein) was British so the red, white and blue tweet could also be a reference to the Union Jack.
