My theory…this new curse sends everyone back to EF with no memories of SB. Emma has to work to bring them all back to her- she’s the only one with full knowledge. Her family doesn’t know her anymore.

My thoughts EXACTLY!! This is what I think the new curse entails. But who casts it and why? Regina could do it because she wants to go back to the EF, where she belongs? Maybe Henry rejects her for Emma and she gives up and wants to go home. So she remembers how to cast Rumpels curse but the only thing is that she cant just take everyone home… It’ll be the same as before. Everyone looses their memory. So maybe Emma isn’t there because she is the savior and unaffected by the curse? Or maybe she was gone when it happened.

But Hook is with Emma in NYC. We’ve seen that too. And do we really think A and E would erase everyone’s memories. Easy solution. TLK from Emma. It’s a tad redundant, IMHO. It’s a total repeat of S1 and Adam has said, “it’s not what you think” and that 3.2 “will be wildly different.”

On one hand, yeah, I can see that idea being repetitive…on the other hand, we’ve never seen a situation in which Emma was aware and the others weren’t- that’s actually what I thought the 2nd season would be before they decided to break the curse!  They could make it more interesting if they wanted to.  I’m not saying I’m completely sold that my theory is 100% correct, but honestly, it’s all I’ve got right now! 🙂

I agree motormouth.  I don’t want to have to go back to a situation where all of the “redemption” progress made by Regina and Hook have been wiped out along with their memories.  As much as I enjoy the flashbacks of the evil queen, Regina has come to far as a character to go back to what she was.  But I have to say, my Hooky does look delish with that gaping shirt on the horse.

At this point I am really starting to think that it’s an AU. The costumes are almost identical to the ones the fairy tale characters wear EXCEPT that they are somehow slightly off.

So Belle’s purple dress is very close to her blue dress, but the color is further down the color wheel.

Charming’s outfit is very Prince Charming, but is somehow richer and more stately.

Snow’s outfit is very Snow White, but it almost seems a more creamy instead of stark white, which is what she wore in the pilot.

Neal obviously is the biggest change, from real world to FTL clothing but that makes sense as Neal spent most of his adult life in our world. So his clothing has to be a radical shift as he has spent almost NO time in FTL as an adult. But you’ll notice that there are elements of Nealfire, like scarves.

Aurora’s dress is no longer purple, but has moved down the color wheel and is now white, almost as if she’s more virginal and innocent.

Regina’s is dressed head to toe in her EQ dress, as if none of her Redemption as occurred at all.

Now what about Hook? Well Hook is dressed exactly like he is NYC. As if in no matter universe, he’d still be a pirate (no judgements! Observations only) (Also, the crest on the horse he’s riding as the same colors as King George’s crest if I’m not mistaken)

So in sum: I think we’re looking at an AU “what if” situation.

That’s true…it would be frustrating to lose all that progress…maybe they get fake memories?  I don’t know- I’m just grasping straws!  How would an AU situation work though?  I don’t want it to be just a dream sequence.  This new curse must have something to do with whatever is going on here.

A vision quest by Emma maybe?  If she’s exploring her powers that may be one of them.  I’m at a loss.  I’ve seen so many excellent theories on this thread, that any one of them is a possibility.  But I don’t discount A and E’s ability to pull a rabbit out of a hat and totally surprise us with something completely different.  I’m considering laying off the spoiler threads for a while.  If I have to wait 3 months for the episode to air, the speculation my just kill me.
