I’m going to throw this out there: what if the AU is all around including New York. The AU is : what if Emma never gave up Henry. They went and lived together in NYC as mother and son. This is how I picture this:
Emma and Hook and Henry are seen leaving SB in the Yellow Bug in 311
When they cross the town line, something happens in which Emma is given the chance to make a different choice in her life and so she decides to never give up Henry. And she takes it.
Everything in her life changes, and it changes for everyone else as well. Somehow the Curse still broke and sent everyone back to FTL WITH their memories. So now Snow and Charming are trying to find Emma.
Hook, because he was with Emma when she crossed over, is in both places, jump realm jumping. His job is to convince Emma to believe.
The mystery guy is someone from Emma’s past and has no connection to FTL

Since Aurora and Philip are there, this may be where we find out how Mulan and Aurora got Philip’s soul back from the wraith. Now the three people missing from the pics are Rumple, Emma, and Henry. So if something happened to those three, the other characters may have to travel to the EF in order to travel to perhaps the netherworld in order to save them.
What if the FTL in the pics is the Netherworld? It would explain why things seem off, but similar eg Belle’s dress. Also Aurora and Philip could be acting as guides since they’ve been there before!

Still very confused about Hook on that horse. Is he in two places at once? Does he find someone to get out of NYC and go in search of everyone else?
I don’t think so. He’s not wearing the red vest in the NYC stuff, so I think they have him wearing it in the FTL stuff as a way to distinguish that this is a different-time-and-place Hook to the one in NYC. All the other characters look vastly different to their real world counterparts, and they needed a point of difference in Hook’s costume as well. But his costume is so static, there isn’t really much they can do to change it up, apart from the vest, (and the fact that he has the hook in FTL, and the fake hand in NYC).
Also, do we have confirmation about the crest on the horse? Is it King George’s?
This is the only thing that really resembles a “crest” but it may just be a random, decorative thing?
I think we’re seeing the Netherworld. It would explain a lot of what we’ve seen in the pics.

Keeper of FelixWhy the complete costume changes though? That’s one of the things that has me thinking it has to be an AU thing, because we’ve seen characters go from our world to magical worlds before, and they don’t get new costumes complete with hair extensions.
Unless they end up there due to ReverseCurse conditions which changes their clothes, but the NewCurse is meant to hit in 311, and we at the very least know for sure that Hook is in NYC for 312, (and there was rumour of other characters having been shooting present day stuff in our world for 312 as well), so I don’t see how they could be Cursed to go to a different world in 311, but still in NYC in 312?
If it was a Netherworld, then it would explain the costume changes and why they are so familiar yet something is off about them.

I agree about the costume change as I wrote in detail back on page one about how the costumes are very similar yet off but why would certain people be there? Belle and Neal have no connection to the Netherworld so far as we know. Not to mention Granny and Team7.
EDIT: however I think Phee is referring to the first costume change. Belle goes form her ball gown to the purple, for example.

They’d have to go to FTL first, to meet Philora, and the previous times when Snow and Neal made that trip back to FTL, they didn’t get costume changes, so why would they this time? So then, they’d all venture into the Netherworld and suddenly they all look completely different, going from their real world looks to their slightly off fairytale looks? That would be really random to me.
