Oh I agree with that. I think this whole story line is the writers way of having Regina face her ugly past. Yeah she’s got light magic, but she can’t just flip a switch a be on team Charming. She’s hurt a lot of people, and while Snow has forgiven and encouraged her, a lot of people have not and probably never will. Regina’s shrugged that off because, whatever, peasants. But now she cares about Robin and to know she was responsible for causing him so much pain; that’s going to be quite the rude awakening.
I’m intrigued to see how this plays out. If Regina is capable of feeling guilt for all she’s done, this would be the time for it. I honestly think this will be the start of her redemption arch. Everything up until this point has been about protecting Henry/Snow, or a personal grudge, Zelena. Now I want to see her make the choice to be a hero for herself. Because she wants to atone.
I’m also hoping that the writers will tackle some of the class inequality issues of the Enchanted Forest. Like Regina shrugging off murdering peasants. They touched it a little bit with George and his murder of Billy (“He was just a mouse”). Storybrooke really levels the playing field in terms of human rights and freedoms. I would love to see a mayoral election where an unnamed peasant wins because the citizens of Storybrooke are tired of the ruling class and they like the politics of this world better.

Good idea! Also, id love to see Snow confronted with the fact that while she refused to kill Regina (for whatever reasons?) she has killed quite a few people herself I believe, right? A couple of Black Knights? Sure they were trying to kill her but I always assumed they were heartless minions of Regina and being forced to serve her so I think they kinda classify as innocent.
