Can we now assume Hook has been reunited with his lost hand? My guess is Rumple restored it.
Rumors circulating (and I have no evidence that these rumors are true or false, so don’t shoot the messenger) is that Hook “blackmails” Rumple into returning his lost hand.

What on earth is the show’s reason for undoing this generally minor detail that is specifically pretty major to the character of Captain Hook. If their reason is ‘so he can blend in better in SB’ then that is a very weak motivation. I mean I just don’t get. Yes okay duh two hands are better than one, but why now? Why would he still care? You’d think that after 3 centuries he’d have accepted the loss by now. Perhaps the answer is that he hasn’t. Still, I find this hand thing very out of the blue and somehow it feels out of place in the grand scheme of things.

I agree with all this. I think it will go down like this:
-Hook will want to blend in more with the people of SB. So he goes to Rumpel and asks for his hand back. Blackmail may ensue.
-Rump gives him his hand, he changes up his clothes, everyone is surprised and makes a huge deal out of it.
-Near the end of the half of the season, Hook realizes the hook is a part of him and he wants it back OR he gets into a battle with the evil people and looses it again and refuses to have rump reattach it because he feels better with the hook.
….and then Blue Fairy is revealed to be an evil demonic force of sneakiness 😛

1) Logistics. If they have him wear a hook and change his clothing they have to be extremely careful in what they put him in. They have to make it look like his hook is generally the same length as the other arm, and not a hand holding onto a hook. They’re limited to color, sleeve length…and they would have to get everything custom made to have one longer sleeve than the other. It’s not really feasible.
2) I think that’s the whole point. Hook’s trying to figure out who he is – to lose something that’s a physical part of you and has been for 3 lifetimes…yeah, a hand might make you look like everyone else but it makes you wonder who you are without that part of you. It’s the visual part of Hook’s struggle to figure out who he is and who he wants to be.
Ugh, I hope they don’t go the Hook blackmails Rumple route. Simply because it’s the obvious choice. Pick someone unexpected, mix it up a little.

To add to logistics- The jacket he’s in would make it near on impossible to hide the fact that his missing hand/hook attachment is obviously a much longer & larger hand held hook attachment, which detracts from the character anyway. You can only really hide that fact if he’s dressed in a single colour with big/baggy or billowing sleeves to help distract from just how great the discrepancy between lengths really is.
