    A few people online have noticed that Zelena appears to be wearing Pan’s anti-magic band, meaning she’s powerless in this scene.

    Gonna steal a quote from another thread because it’s relevant here and I agree…

    Soā€¦ Zelena is Marian? That is so cheap. Oh everything that happened doesnā€™t matter because surprise! itā€™s Zelena. When they did this with Ariel I didnā€™t like it and I donā€™t like it now either. How is she even back and when and why? In my opinion, the whole surpriseitsanotherperson thing is kind of the equivalent of itwasalladreamintheend thing.

    They can say all they want that this is what they’ve been planning all along, but to me it feels like some hastily cobbled together ridiculousness because they wrote themselves into a corner and had to get out of it.

    As for Lily being Maleficent’s daughter, well I can buy that Agnes would be Kristen’s daughter, but Nicole, not a chance in hades. Everything about adult Lily is gonna bug me because of that whitewashing re-cast, which sucks, because I’d actually been interested to learn more about her before the casting happened. *sigh*

    Didn’t that thing disappear with Rumple when he killed himself and Pan?

    In regards to whether or not the writers really did plan this whole Zelena=Marian thing in advanced since the end of Season 3, someone found this old TV Line article from right before “Kansas” aired. The way Eddy Kitsis answers this actually is rather fitting of this theory. Not saying it’s direct confirmation this was planned or not, but interesting nonetheless:

    As for the simmering ā€œOutlawQueen,ā€ he says, ā€œYou will see that the only thing standing in their way is Reginaā€™s sister [Zelena], who will test whether or not she has really changed.ā€

    Found a tumblr post that articulates why this whole Zelena = Marian thing feels ridiculous to me…

    This stupid Zelena = Marian plot is relying on a lot of hope on her part.
    If Zelena was impersonating Marian in the past, she would have to know exactly what time period she was in in 5 seconds flat, know exactly the person she needed to look like, hope that Regina would capture her, hope that Emma would be arrested, hope that Emma would be thrown into the cell next to her, hope that Emma would be able to get out of the cell, hope that Emma would also take ā€˜Marianā€™ with her, hope Emma wouldnā€™t listen to ā€˜Marianā€™ when she said she wanted to go back to her family, hope that Emma would get the time travel portal working and hope that Emma would take ā€˜Marianā€™ with her.

    Zelena would then get frozen by the Snow Queen and her heart was ripped out, which was completely red and glowing with no dark spots, and when she was cured she told Regina that she should be with Robin.

    Then thereā€™s the whole magical disguise in the Land Without Magic. We just had an episode where the whole plan to get rid of the Chernabog was that since itā€™s magical then it would not be able to survive in the LWM. Rumple didnā€™t have magic in the LWM. But apparently Zelena knew she could keep a magical disguise in the LWM for over 6 weeks even though sheā€™s never been there before.

    Thereā€™s also the major question of WHY DIDNā€™T SHE JUST KILL ROBIN??? That would mean that Regina would never get to be happy with himā€¦and I justā€¦

    It wasn’t a foolproof plan, it relied on too much really random luck that Zelena couldn’t control, so why would she do it? Especially when it would have been so much easier for her to just go and kill Robin in the past and then problem solved, her sister’s happy ending is dead. I guess she thought that being the one to take a living Robin away from Regina would be more fun, but like I said, that whole plan just had too many risk factors for me to buy that it’s a thing she’d do.

    I can probably fanwank that she was able to maintain the disguise in our world because she was born magical, so the rules that apply to someone like Rumple maybe don’t apply to her as well. If the Dragon can operate in our world, then I guess so can Zelena. That’s the least of my concerns with this story line.

    I also agree with this other post from the same tumblr user…

    I have a feeling that the writers were taken back by the negativity towards Outlaw Queen with the whole ā€˜Regina killed her for crying out loud!ā€™, ā€˜Robin chose to stay with his wife but then had sex with Regina in a crypt!ā€™ ā€˜This entire relationship is disgusting!ā€™. So now theyā€™re scrambling to try to cover it all up with this retcon which doesnā€™t make sense so they can say ā€˜See everyone Regina didnā€™t kill her after all!ā€™ even though it doesnā€™t make Robin look any better since he thought she was his wife.

    I made another comparison shot of the costume since there’s now some pictures on decent quality (And I found two that are pretty much the exact same angle). It’s definitely, 100% the same coat!

    Yes, this confirms my suspicion from a year ago that Marian and Zelena are one and the sameĀ  (on a different fansite).
