Huh, so on another forum people are saying Excalibur has Killian Jones written on it and the dagger part has Emma Swan’s name.
So…thus far this season the writers have been harping on Regina as the new Savior, but Dark Swan woke up Tabula Rasa Rumple in order to mold him into the hero she needs, but it’s all a bait and switch for Hook as the seasonal hero?
Yeah.. I just..*sigh* I hope it ends up being really good, but I was happy Emma didn’t go to Hook to be the Hero (from the promos I thought that MIGHT be the direction they were heading.) I was surprised she decided she needed to wake up rumple. It was a pleasant surprise too since it wasn’t predictable like Regina or Charming, definitely confusing but I liked the twist. Anyway I am hoping there is adequate build up to explain this and maybe even more to it than Hook is the ultimate Hero or anything along those lines. I do like Hook, but I like him being a bit complicated and not the perfect Hero. Anyway, I just really really hope it is a good story and makes sense.

It doesn’t look to me like Hook is the new hero. Rather, he looks to be the new dark one who is fighting Hero!Rumple. So ask yourselves how exactly did Hook get his name on the reforged sword. Maybe Hook is the one who reunites the dagger and the hilt after Hero!Rumple pulls the hilt out of the stone.

?????? As far as we know right now, is Arthur’s name on Excalibur? Because it could be whoever pulls otnfrom the stone gets their name written on it like with the dagger. Or perhaps, Killian is the dark one. Or perhaps he is now the “Light One” and literally the yin to Emma’s yang.
Idk where this is going and idk how I feel about it but…..

That’s not how I’m reading the scene but who knows. His name is on the Sword (and Emma’s on the Dagger) meaning Emma is still the Dark One. You can still see her name in one of those above shots.

So both of their names are written on Excalibur. That’s either hopeful or really ominous. The latest sneak peek from 5×4 has David wanting to help Arthur reunite the sword hilt and the dagger — which Snow is against thanks to a tip-off from Lancelot not to trust Arthur. So something tells me that reuniting that dagger and the sword hilt may not be such a great idea if it plays exactly into King Arthur’s desire. Come to think of it, Merlin did warn KidEmma! not to remove the sword from the stone or else “bad things would happen.” I’m still wondering what the consequence of not only removing it, but of reuniting the blade with its other half, will be.

I don’t know either because until we meet Merlin a bit more properly, it’s hard to know what “bad” things are and whether or not the Wizard is telling the truth. I do think that Arthur is going to play a larger role in why Merlin is currently soaking up the sun. (though, that begs the question of why we need Nimue…)

I bet Nimue won’t actually play that big of a role, other than in flashbacks as the DO and Merlin’s love. She is probably like Emma in that she thinks she is doing the right thing, but using darkness to get it done and when Merlin tries to stop her or warn her that bad things will happen, that is when she traps him in the tree. OR she tries to protect him from something by trapping him, but I think it is more likely she does it to stop him from stopping her. It is probably an emotional scene and will have parallels to current Dark!Emma. Shortly after she traps him, I imagine she is then is killed by someone who is power hungry for the dagger. The dagger is a lot like the Elder Wand from Harry Potter both the source of great power and weakness and once others find out about it they will try killing the current DO to get that power.

A few fans have brought up this quote back from SDCC:
Hook may have a connection to Camelot: “Camelot exists in a parallel timeline,” executive producer Adam Horowitz said. “It’s existed. How we portray it and show you, it’s existed long ago, short ago and maybe in the future. It may have co-existed with [when Hook was in the Royal Navy].”

We have to question both why it would be important for Hook to have a flashback in 510 during a Camelot themed arc, and why his name ends up on Excalibur. There could be a connection there.
Two possibilities as I see it
1) Hook’s father was a member of the Round Table
2) The prophecy Merlin gave that Arthur believes is about him is really about Hook and Arthur just got lucky in pulling the sword originally.
