Except deleted scenes are absolutely not considered canon. The writers don’t get to decide that.
It depends on the scene.

I accept certain scenes as part of my head canon, but they are still head canon. They can never be canon because they weren’t aired. Only what is aired is canon.

I think he meant that the ones released on the DVD and Blu-Rays are, which has been the case since forever.

Oh. Yeah, that we knew. Okay. Internal “huh” over.

Actually what is canon is exactly what the writers decide, right now according to Adam, canon is the TV show, the deleted scenes on the DVDs and the two comic books.

The vast majority of the people who watch this show have not seen the deleted scenes or read the comics. I have only seen a few deleted scenes and read no comics. Canon is the aired show and that’s it. You are never going to change my mind about this, so agree to disagree.

In fiction, <b style=”margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 26.4px; font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Helvetica, ‘Nimbus Sans L’, Arial, ‘Liberation Sans’, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; color: #252525; background-image: none; background-attachment: initial; background-size: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial;”>canon is the material accepted as officially part of the story in an individual universe of that story.
The term Canon is a fact, not an opinion. Canon is about all the universe and the products that are part of that universe, GA doesn’t care about those things.
If you looked at other franchises like Star Wars or Buffy or Harry Potter, you would see there are a lot of extra material that the creators of those universes consider canon, like comic books, television shows, extra material that got cut.
Just because you don’t accept something as canon, doesn’t make it not canon. It is canon, but it is not part of your fanon or headcanon. Canon and the things that are considered canonial are facts and are decided by the creators of the world, in OUAT case, those are the TV, the deleted scenes on the DVD and the comic books. You might disagree, but it doesn’t change them as canons.

January 23, 2016 at 12:15 am #315442Bar FarerParticipantI can say that for me canon is just season 1-3A because that is when the story actually ended, and everything else is just a badly written fanfic that doesn’t make sense, but that won’t be true.
Or someone can claim that season 4A is canonial to the Frozen movie franchise, but it won’t be canon cause the creators of the movie didn’t accept it as canon and they can actually contradict it in the sequel (I kind of hope they will do it) because it is not canon to the movie.
