Though I don’t believe this, the old man COULD be Aladdin. Just an older version of him. The story of Aladdin and Jasmine could have taken place years ago from the time the story is taking place. I’m sure Jafar would want to lock up his greatest enemy.
Well here is some crack: is it at all possible that the old man is BOTH Aladdin and Jafar’s father…making Jasmine his mother but Jafar only THINKS his father cast him out?
Totally agreed that that guy is Jafar’s father.
I definitely agree that the guy in the other cage is the sultan and thus Jafar’s father. Jafar would be especially annoyed if he was cast out because of being an illegitimate child whereas Jasmine was allowed to maintain her position as princess yet marry a “street rat”. Since Agrabah is a patriarchal society, it’s Jasmine’s husband that would rule so Jafar would be pissed if his rightful position as heir went to Aladdin.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixBut the question is how does this fit into Jafar wanting to change the laws of magic? Does he want to change the past so that his father never shunned him?

Probably. Obviously Jafar wants power and feels slighted by his father for abandoning him. He wants power (magical) and power to rule and he wants to be accepted by his father. And he has daddy issues on top of that. (Sounds a lot like Loki at that moment).

Yup. He’s got a funny looking staff and all.
All we need is a moment where Jafar demands that people kneel before him and refers to this moment as their natural state of being and that’s it.
