Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin. Sympathetic villains have always been my weakness and I just adore his relationship with Belle.

But after “Desperate Souls” and “Skin Deep” aired, I was hooked. His backstory gave me chills. Watching a humble single father sacrifice everything (even his soul) to save his son, only to selfishly let him go a few months later. UGH! The emotions! 😥 I always enjoy watching stories involving the fall of a good man, and his (hopefully) eventual journey back to the path of good.
His character turned me from a casual viewer to a complete all out OUAT fangirl.

I only sometimes wish they had made Gold a different fairytale character than Rumplestiltzkin cause I dont like seing Rumplestiltzkin as a human being, he is supposed to be this little devil or troll who is all and only evil. But of course that is not exactly the shows approach to seing good and evil…
Or they could have made it so that he was given the name Rumplestiltzkin when he became the dark one.
Like the dwarfs get their names from the axe.November 19, 2012 at 1:39 pm #161300thedarkoneParticipantMy favs are Rumpel, Jefferson, Ruby, Belle and Regina. 😉
November 19, 2012 at 3:25 pm #161320Daniel J. LewisKeymasterMr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin – I love this man. His story is so complex and has so much depth and tragedy, and quite frankly, I applaud the show for having the courage to delve into some of the issues that it does with Rumpel. The idea of good and evil, murder, unhealthy parent/child relationships, ect. I think it’s fair to say that Rumpel is definitely evil, but the depth of his love for Belle and Baelfire gives him a much more interesting slant to him. I find myself rooting for him more often than not. Which is weird, because like I said, he’s evil. But there’s just something about him that makes me want to love him. And Robert Carlyle’s portrayal of the character is simply phenomenal.
Regina Mills/Evil Queen – This woman too badass for words. I loved seeing her make trouble for the Charming family in season 1, and I’m enjoying her path to redemption this season. Now, whether or not she’ll actually keep her promise is another story, but I hope she does. And needless to say, Lana is also brilliant in the role. She’s also the most beautiful woman on the show. I envy her. 😆
Snow White/ Mary Margaret – She is everything I expect Snow White to be. Pure, sweet, generous, ect. But I love that the writers gave her a unique twist. I love that she’s brave and fights for her honor and the ones she loves. It’s a good message for young girls and I appreciate that.
Belle – She is also everything I expect Belle to be. Kind, compassionate and willing to stand up to her Beast. And like someone else in here already said, she has the best wardrobe on the show. 😀
Jefferson/Mad Hatter – He’s just awesome. End of story. I hope he becomes a series regular.
November 19, 2012 at 8:51 pm #161343beauty the beastParticipantMy favorite characters are Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin, Regina/Evil Queen, Jefferson/Mad Hatter, Ruby/Red and Belle. I’m also growing quite fond of Neal Cassady and Captain Hook.
November 20, 2012 at 10:45 am #161394rosihorrorParticipantRed! Of all the fairy tale victim subversions this show has made, her is by far the coolest (Snow is a badass and I love her, but Red wins)
Awesome 😀
Also:
Rumpelstiltskin: He is one of the most complex and well developed villains I’ve ever seen on television. It doesn’t show I like him because I criticize him so much, but I think that is the beauty of this character, you can like him as a multidimensional and well developed individual, yet not agree with his actions, this is what happens when a character truly comes to life.
Belle: She is just so nice! It’s impossible not to like her 😛
If I start listing all the other characters and what I like about them this list will never end, so I’m going to stop here.

November 20, 2012 at 8:10 pm #161425eternalflameParticipantMy favorite character is Rumpelstiltskin. I love his complex backstory, and I’m a sucker for the Beauty and the Beast storyline.
November 22, 2012 at 1:20 am #161636MyrilParticipantI find most characters interesting and in one or another way likable (there is a reason, why I think, it’s one of the best shows on TV at the moment). But nevertheless pointing out few:
Emma – always have a thing for tomboys, and yes I think she is one, she so could have been one of the lost boys in Neverland. A lost girl (uhm, no pun intented, of course not, never). She has some strength, but her vulnerabilities are what makes her loveable. Besides: I love cinnamon too.
Snow/Mary Margaret – a woman with a sword (girl? she is no girl!), and archery skills, strong will, loyal, humble, open minded and warmhearted, and still she is shy and insecure at times. You can go on a great hunt into the woods with her as much as you can have a giggly women talk, the best friend one can have. And then there is cinnamon.
Granny – knows how to handle a crossbow and has some dry humor, who doesn’t want to have such a granny at her side? Not to mention rumor has it she serves some mean heated up Lasagne at her diner.
Grumpy / Leroy – I hate it too when people ruin my breakfast, or lunch or whatever meal. And never ask me to smile in the morning either. What is not to love about him?
Evil Queen / Regina – In a moment of utterly craziness I might offer her my heart voluntarily, just to get close enough to her to study her at great length. She is dangerous but not as calculating as her mother, and that makes her interesting. And this woman has style. Oh, yes, sexy badass, can agree with that too.
Rumplestiltskin / Mr. Gold – how many layers does this man have? Getting into his mind is the task of more than a lifetime, I guess, but worth a try. Fascinating! (and please, give Robert Carlyle an award for this acting!)
and now coming to my most favorite character …
Red / Ruby – I love wolves, it’s as simple as that. Even more when it’s some good looking, smart, friendly, fierce she-wolf.
Astoundingly Little Red Riding Hood was my favorite fairy tale despite that the wolf had no good time in it, not in the common version that is. In my version of the tale, Red walked off with the wolf and they had a great, adventurous, happy life together, or Red and the wolf together saved granny from the evil hunter and then lived happily ever after, maybe after some quarrel with the mother, but even she had to admit in the end, the wolf was the good guy. But the idea to make Red the wolf is far better.
And of course I like the children’s story by Prokofiev, Peter and the Wolf, had that great book with white/color on black illustration of it, by Frans Haacken, here an example from it. unfortunatly my copy got lost. So had a blast that Red’s crush was named Peter, what a tragedy she killed him.¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
