Emma and August. I love the whole mystery and plausability with these two, and how they lost so much, but are fighting to find it. August in particular, is very mysterious, just as mysterious to me as say, Bae. I know him, but yet we don’t. I hope he’s actually there for Emma, but I have our concerns. I like how Emma was at first distrusting, but it looks like she learned to trust him a little too late. And, I love the rapport both got with Henry. I think it’s adorable. I just hope this side of the story isn’t forgotten.
[adrotate group="5"]Hook. Captain Hook is definitely my favorite character. The reason, is because he has so much potential for his character’s profile to move out of it’s mold. The possibilities are endless, and could promise a lot of good entertainment for a long time to come.

i was in this personality psychology class, and we were tasked with analyzing a person from three psychological perspectives either real or ficitonal. my immediate thought: Rumple (this was at start of season 2) who knows if people follow this thread and want it they can message me in chat to put this paper in the forums. lols.
I enjoy everyone’s acting, especially LP and RC GG and JD are excellent usually.

Grumpy is near the top — he’s at the top of the comedy list — but comedy works over a short timescale, while tragedy is long-term, and so I’m casting my vote for King George. I like how George has sympathetic qualities without being in any way endearing, and I hope they bring him back without giving him a redemption arc.

I’m mostly a Dearie though I too am Grumpy fan (is there a name for Grumpy fans?) But for some reason…. I’ve always thought his role in the show should have gone to Dopey >> Snow and Dopey have a closer connection in my opinion, though I have only seen Snow White in bits and peices, I think you could have easily set dopey apart from the other dwarves, who could have hard working and focused while Dopey is the dreamer, clumsy, and weird one who gets no respect until he does something to show them all that he is just as much a dwarf as they are >> not that grumpy is bad, but Dopey just would have been a more interesting character, especially with the clumsybfairy Nova.

I’m sorry to bump an old thread but I’ve been watching this show, and found this thread, and wanted to add to it.
Rumpelstiltskin is DEFINITELY my FAVORITE character on the show. I never really knew of him from the stories per say but in the show he is my favorite. I just LOVE his giggle, and the way he talks, and moves. He’s cool as Mr. Gold too but I really like him as Rumpelstiltskin. Again, I just love his laugh, and the way he moves and stuff. He’s cool. I don’t know of the actor who plays him nor have I ever really seen any other shows / movies with him acting but he sure does play Rumpelstiltskin very well.
I also like Regina when she’s in the role of the queen. I think she’s pretty hot when she’s the queen. I’m not fond of her character as mayor but as the queen I think she’s hot for some reason.However, S1E18 ( The Stable Boy ) when Regina is just a young adult without the mayor persona she’s good looking to me, and I would DEFINITELY smash. I like Regina as queen and as regular young adult before it all but I don’t like her as mayor.
I also think Henry is a decent actor as a kid. He’s a smart kid for sure.
I also like David. David is probably my 2nd factory character on the show. He’s cool.

Yeah, for me, it’s Rumple and Emma is a close second. I never did get that big fight I wanted between the two of them though. Regina came on really strong toward the end though mainly bc she was the best written character from start to finish in my opinion.
I also think Henry is a decent actor as a kid. He’s a smart kid for sure.
Not to bash on kid actors here, but I thought as a young kid, Jared Gilmore was good. He was cute, passionate, convincing, driven. And I thought in the final season, he was better, even good with some scenes with Emma and Regina. But from seasons 3-5, I thought he was really bad. Like really bad.

I also grew to really not like Snowing. David separated himself a bit in toward the end when the story of his father came out and he was all hot and bothered. I also always enjoyed his scenes with Hook. But many times, from seasons 2-5, David was so incredibly one-note and boring.
Rumple had the coolest most original backstory of anyone on the show. Like can you guys imagine them coming up with something as original as the dark one? Like, look at how important Desperate Souls was for the show. The dagger, the power, how to become the dark one. Even if Emma and Hook became one. Cora tried to become one, Arthur wanted the power to control the dark one. Rumple’s lust for it and it affecting his relationship with Belle. It shaped a huge chunk of the show. And the concept was completely original. After that great story, we got Olympian Crystals, magic swords, shears of destiny etc etc etc. Nothing that quite had the same impact as the dark one mythology. It’s a shame they kind of botched the mythology when they went a little deeper in season 5, but the original concept of it, was cool as heck. What the dark one powers did to Rumple and shaped his life alone makes him the best character for me. He was cool to look at and fun on screen. Season 1 was incredible for Rumple. I seriously remember thinking that Robert Carlyle should get nominated for playing Rumple/Mr. Gold. It was so original and so crazy and Robbie did it perfectly.
I think it would be fun to explore this now that the show is basically done. Did your favorite character change from season 1 to 6? Did you start out liking/disliking one character and by the end change that thought process?
For me, I was always a Rumple fan from Desperate Souls onward and that never changed. I agree with thedarkonedearie statements above. I also believe that we become so attached to characters because in some way we relate to who they are or what they are going through. I personally can relate to Rumple fairly well. I see him as a guy who had to try and overcome his families name and reputation. As someone who did not always feel that he had control of the events in his life and was desperate to take back some control (although not the best way to do it) As someone who has a good, kind heart who wants to make a life for himself and his family and is willing to just go his own way and not bother anyone else. He is a parent who takes that responsibility seriously and does not try and pass it off on someone else or make excuses for not doing what he feels is in the best interest of his child. At heart Rumple is a father who wants to do best by his child and I can totally relate to that.
I started out liking Emma at the beginning of the series but man by the end I really did not like her. Same goes for Snow. Emma started the show as this tough in your face I am going to do what I believe is morally right no matter what the costs and ended up being weak and morally ambiguous. I always liked Snow better as Mary Margaret who was kind, sweet, and filled with optimism. I feel Snow was snotty, stuck up and only does what she feels is right for her self, her family, or her friends. If you are not in those groups she could care less. Which is fine except she labelled herself and her family as the “heroes” and therefore should have acted like it.
I always felt a little sorry for Regina even in season 1 but I really liked her by the end of the series. She has had the most complete character development of the show. She has gone from villain to hero not overnight (like Hook) but through several seasons of trying to do the right thing and making good choices. She did not get all her bad deeds hand waved away and I guess I really liked that. Does she still make some questionable decisions (stealing Belle’s heart), yes but we expect that and can forgive it because we know she is truly trying. The only thing I am disappointed in was the decline in her relationship with Rumple throughout the last couple of seasons. Their mentor/student relationship was one of my all time favorites even when they were trying to one up each other their was always this underlying respect and caring between them that we did not get after season 4.
