I was thinking, since he said that a seagull brought it, that maybe Ariel sent it?  Not that it makes any sense with what we know as of yet.

Scuttle!! I like the idea 🙂

We’ve seen birds being used by a variety of people on the show: Snow, Neal, August, Rumple.

My current thought is Rumple when he couldn’t find Belle or Bae (because they were searching for him)

Did he say seagull?  I saw someone on TVLine correct Mitovich when he said pidgeon.  But I thought Hook just said bird?

You are correct–he said bird. Nothing specific

The  closed caption said seagull.  I will watch it again but saw it last night.

That’s where I got it from, the captions.  He did not say it in the first episode, but in the 2nd when they’re in the Charmings home.

I just rewatched it with the captions and he does say seagull.

My guess is Rumple.  I think that Zelena probably forbade him from talking to anyone from StoryBrook, so rumple used a loop hole to be able to contact Hook.  It would be great to See these two work together for a common goal.

Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

Curious about the captions. Do they work off a version of the script for the captions? Did the person writing the captions just assume it was a seagull because the bird flew to a ship?

Seagull instantly makes you think Scuttle. And we do know that Ariel’s coming back, and she and Hook will be interacting.

Anyway, at the moment I’m thinking Neal sent the message, because it had to be someone who knew Neal’s address and that there would be stuff in the apartment that could help Emma, which narrows it down to either Neal or Rumple IMO.

Hook’s playing it like he doesn’t know who sent it, but I do wonder if he does actually know. His story changed about how he got the potion, so perhaps he’s slipping up with the half truths as he’s trying to not reveal all he knows.

Perhaps it was actually Ariel who delivered the message, and she was sent by Neal, who we know has the know how to summon sea creatures. I would think that when everyone got returned from whence they came, Ariel became a mermaid again. If Neal ended up in a position where he learned that the Curse was coming, and he wanted to get a message to Hook to help find Emma, and he knew that Hook would be off somewhere on his ship by that point in time, then Neal giving the message to Ariel would make sense. She’s had the role of delivering messages before, so it wouldn’t feel out of place if it was her.

I’m going with my original theory that the message was sent by August, and meant to be delivered to Neal. Hook intercepted the note and acted on it.
