I do not know about you but if I were EMMA there is NO WAY… I would want to live in FTL… she grew up in the modern world …has functioned somewhat successfully in the modern world and I do not see her wanting to go back to FTL regardless of how great others might think of FTL….
THINK OF IT:
lack of modern plumbing
disease / pestilence and lack of modern medical care, especially during child birth….
lack of electricity and modern conveniences… I get bummed when the internet goes out let alone electricity….
the funky clothing
LACK OF FREEDOM…. surf-dome / stupid nobility… etcI can think of hundreds of other reasons not to go back but which characters do you think will want to stay in Storybrooke and who will want to go back?
THOROUGHLY MODERN NONNIE

I sort of go back in forth between what i want to happen. I don’t think that Emma will go one place though and Henry another whatever they do they will go together.
April 15, 2012 at 12:22 pm #142383SlurpeezParticipantI agree, hjbau. Even though FTL lacked all of the “modern conveniences” of our world, I think she’d have some major and compelling reasons why she’d want to go:
1) She’s always been on her own in our world. If Snow White, Prince Charming, and Henry wanted to return, she’d be right there with them. To quote Emma, she “can’t lose her family.” If they stayed in our world, she’d stay.
2) If she and August became a couple and he were to go to FTL, she’d go with him. I hope she gets her “Happily Ever After.” After all, every heroine deserves a hero.
3) She’d be a royal princess and heiress to an entire kingdom as the only child of Prince Charming and Snow White. She’d never have to worry about toiling again for anything. I don’t think of this as a “lack of freedom” because she’d be given everything. Even though she’d have to learn to rule, she’d be an awesome princess. Plus, she’d have awesome costumes. (Personally, I don’t think they’re “funky”, but rather lovely).
4) There is magic in FTL that can help to overcome the lack of modern conveniences. Things like disease might be done away with there.
5) After living in a hard life in our world, she may very well want an “escape” to FTL."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy
April 15, 2012 at 1:28 pm #142397obisgirlParticipantbut if Emma chooses to stay in the real world, most likely her parents still want to go back to fairytale land and I don’t think Emma would want to be separated from them again.
April 15, 2012 at 1:46 pm #142405miaParticipantNot only Emma, I don’t think Snow and Charming would want to part with their daughter either. I do feel they’ll have another kid someday (if ever David gets a grip on himself lol).
Anyway, I can see them living all (incl. Henry) either in FTL or “our world”. I do feel like it would be better for Red/Ruby to live in SB (or anywhere else on the planet) than in FTL. At least as long as she turns into a wolf. A happy ending for her seems much more likely here.
Gold/Rumpel, well, gods know what would be best for him. If ever he survived that point. Same goes for Regina. Although, moving to a big city and going into politics would be far better than going back to FTL for her. But again, if ever she survives.
Cinderella&Thomas I can see going back. They already are happy, but their financial situation would be much better in FTL. 😉April 15, 2012 at 1:51 pm #142408hjbauParticipantI think that is right obsgirl. That i think is the biggest reason that Emma will go back to fairytale land.

BUT not everyone gets to be a princess… Granny would probably stay back and so would RED… better to be poor with conveniences (modern world) then to be poor with none. Not everyone gets to wear silks and satins. If all the subjects and minion opt to stay in SB who would the prince and princesses rule in FTL? Would the dwarfs want to go back to the mines or work in the sunshine even though it might not be a premium jobs. Where would you like to live or work?
.April 16, 2012 at 1:29 am #142479hjbauParticipantBut everyone doesn’t have a great life in the real world either. It might depend on whether or not they could leave town. I think that part of the curse would have to be broken also.

The opportunity to get all dolled up in fairytale princess dresses would probably be the deciding factor for me. 😆
I’m not entirely sure that going back will even be an option for anyone, so must admit, I haven’t given any thought yet to the question of who’d want to stay and who wouldn’t.
April 16, 2012 at 2:54 pm #142535killianhookfanParticipantI don’t see too many happy endings going on at all in FTL. I would lean toward guessing that all of the characters would want to stay in SB. In FTL the characters really didn’t seem to get to think for themselves – everything was dictated by royalty and tradition, so the commonors were subject to having their children stolen and forced to fight in Ogre wars while the Royal lineage was forced into arranged marriages or threatened with death. That seems to be the reason that all the mess with the magic and deal-making happened in the first place – everyone was trying to find ways around the Royal traditions and dictates, or were trying to find ways to climb the social ladder and become a Royal (or get their children to become a Royal).
At least in SB (at least one would assume once the curse is broken) in the real world, people are free to decide for themselves what they want to do with their life. If Astrid doesn’t want to be a nun she and Leroy can be together – there aren’t necessarily any more silly rules about Fairies and Dwarves don’t have any Diamond Mines. Even though MM is a Princess (or a Queen I guess??) she can still be a teacher if she likes it.
That’s one reason I have always thought that Regina has felt that Belle would be a threat. Even in FTL, Belle was a princess who had no problem sacrificing her station in life as a princess to become a maid. She said that “no one decides my fate but me.” She didn’t care that Rumple was a green scaley guy with a bad reputation – she chose to form her own opinion based on what she herself observed and didn’t care what anyone else thought. She is a girl who I think would have no problem at all adjusting to life in SB and would be the first person pointing out to everyone that life is what you make of it. Based upon things that Regina said in FTL, her entire life post killing the King was based upon trying to retain as much power as possible – it was all about having everyone bow down to her. That doesn’t work out so well if everyone chooses to stay in SB, because even the Mayor doesn’t hold “power” in the way that the Royals did in FTL. And without the curse, Regina as Mayor, holds very little power at all.
