Whose heart did Zelena sacrifice to enact the curse?

I’ve been wondering, whose heart did Zelena sacrifice to enact the second curse?

It would have to be someone she dearly loved and I am theorizing it would have been her child. Something horrendous must have happened to Zelena that might have driven her mad to want to sacrifice her child’s heart to enact the curse again. That could be the reason why Zelena is so invested in Snow and Charmings baby, why she sought the DO teachings ……so she could bring back her child and avenge the wrong done to her?

I’m curious, why do you think the heart was a child?

My head canon, is that maybe it was her true love since we have never seen that.  But maybe the guy didn’t love her back but she loved him.

I agree. She took the heart of her own child. She wanted the heart of Aurora’s baby to bring her own child back. Someone, Snow most likely, saved Aurora’s child and now Zelena is planning on taking Snow’s child.
Her plan is to take the heart of Snow’s baby and return to Oz to save her own child.

Just my theory. Zelena is obsessed with Snow’s child.  It is just a theory, but a plausible one. Zelena wants what Rumple has spent a lifetime seeking….a child.

It may not be her child’s heart she sacrificed, I can’t speculate who else she could have dearly loved to sacrifice a heart.

Perhaps Zelena was separated from her child. She is behaving like a mad person, …..like Jefferson behaved, because he was separated from his daughter.

As Cinders said, perhaps Zelena is trying to go back to OZ,….. by collecting a heart, a brain and courage, …..to save her child.

It’s also possible that Zelena was raised by the woodsman and his wife in the land of Oz. She loved her father, but was resentful that she was raised poor while her sister seemed to have everything.

It would be fitting if she took the heart of her own father to enact the curse, similar to how Regina took her father’s heart.

I think Zelena may sacrifice her father’s heart too or maybe her adoptive mother’s. There’s a lot of parallels going on with Regina and Zelena yet still being different.

What about the heart of a former lover?

Regina started down the path toward the curse because of Daniel’s death–his heart being crushed by Cora. What if Zelena crushed the heart of her own lover?

Thank You RumplesGirl :o) I feel very foolish for starting this topic in the wrong discussion group.

I hope this discussion generates some very interesting speculations regarding the heart Zelena chose to enact the curse and which characters played a role in her decision.

Perhaps it is a direction A & E are heading into season 4?
