This is my dream casting
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"My headcanon is that Rumple somehow takes the place of the Cowardly Lion. He does have a lion like head of hair, to boot.
I could see Rumple being either The Cowardly Lion (for obvious reasons) and The Wizard (Who goes into hiding now because he still wants to be powerful yet Pan was the undoing of his curse meaning he’s not powerful anymore).
I was kinda toying with the idea that Bae was possibly the wizard, (he probably isn’t but its just because there seem to be a number of hints linking him to oz).
- In Desparate Souls (1×08) the guard who is leading bae away to war says something like “everyone is watching from behind their curtains today”
- In The Return (1×19) when the bean portal opens and bae starts walking through it Rumple says “its like a tornado”
- In the podcast for 2×06 I think A+E suggest one possible carrer of neals as being a con man
- He is often in hoods (to cover or hide himself) and is heavily associated with the colour green (remember the good old bae is pan theories)
- In Manhattan (2×14) emma asks how he was helping her by letting her go to jail and he says “by getting you home”
- They chose for Neal to be living in a city (emerald city), not in the country, at the coast, or on an island (which would have been a good neverland reference)
- Name Neal Cassidy which we beleive is a reference to a character in Jack Kerouac’s book On The Road (Yellow brick road?)
- In 3×01 he is the one to use the crystal ball
- In 3×03 he mentions knowing that ruby slippers can create portals (so he has come accross them on his travels at some point)
- Now my fave…in the beginning of season 2 they could have revealed his name to be Neal Cassidy but they didn’t they called him the MYSTERIOUS MAN
This probably isn’t true just an interesting theory.

I think that’s the only thing I’m probably excited about when it comes to maybe seeing Oz.
