Okay, I have a theory on this. Do you guys think that this method of talking to the dead was tried back in the EF of the Past Year?
Maybe Regina and Snow had a seance in the past year to try and find out the same thing. But Regina and Cora had a falling out (maybe over Cora keeping the knowledge of Zelena from Regina [and the entire audience for three seasons and an episode]?) and Cora left on her own terms. Maybe this is why Cora didn’t want to talk to Regina.
She might’ve gone to Snow because, well, Snow could’ve apologized to her in the past. Cora might’ve accepted it and that’s why she showed Snow.
We know that the candle transferred back over to EF because of the curse breaking, so it could be a possibility.
Just a little theory!

Regina actually delayed Cora from sharing what she knew by trying to hold her back, then Regina separated her from Snow and sent her back to the netherworld, possibly before Cora had finished sharing her tale, hence why the flashbacks ended where they did.

@Corbin, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did try, but would it have been Cora? Where would the candle have gone when they all POOFed back to the EF? Where did any of the relics go?"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 25, 2014 at 8:55 pm #263807obisgirlParticipantWhat surprised me about ghost Cora was how violent she was. I mean, she got her heart back before she died and was all smiles and happy. It’s like as soon as she died, all the violent feels came back.

But also, if Cora showed Regina the history, it’d be up to Regina to tell Snow why Cora hated Eva, and considering what Cora knows about Snow and Regina’s relationship, she’d probably figure that Snow wouldn’t necessarily believe Regina. So Snow had to see it with her own inner eyes.
It was odd that they had Cora fling Regina out of the way so violently though, considering there should have been actual love there now. I get that Cora was frustrated, but really?

April 26, 2014 at 8:02 am #263860KebParticipantI got the impression that Cora wanted to get at Snow because she still did harbour vengeance against Eva…she wanted to show Snow that her mother was awful. It’s possible she wanted to do more than just deflate Snow’s opinion of her mother, but Regina stopped her.

April 26, 2014 at 8:39 am #263862RumplesGirlKeymasterEven if Cora did harbor some vengeance against Eva, shouldn’t it have mattered less once her heart was back inside her chest and she realized Regina was enough? That was something that bothered be about these scenes, overall. Cora wasn’t acting like a woman with her heart who finally learned that all she needed was her daughter. She got downright violent with her!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 26, 2014 at 5:10 pm #263965WickedRegalParticipantI think Cora wanted to show Snow the truth about who her mother really was, and why she hated her, and why she killed her. By doing that…it has opened Snow’s eyes to the fact that everyone has a past, and shifted Snow’s “Holier Than Thou” perspective to the grey area where she can understand both the good and dark sides story.
Snow White really was the only Charming left who never understood the grey area, as she always lived in black and white. But upon seeing her own mother being snobbish, and uppity…she really can see that there isn’t a total good or total evil. And I think that scene where she and Regina are joking and laughing about their pasts, shows that Snow White finally understands…
As for Cora being violent with Regina…I think she knew that she didn’t have much time, and Regina had the wrong impression of what her mother was going to do to Snow. So she had to do a “Move the **** out of momma’s way” on Regina in order to show Snow before she could leave.
But I would have loved to see Cora at least give Regina a hug, and did they have to make her look so ghostly…unnecessary much. And because we haven’t seen that magical showdown between Cora and Rumple…maybe we’ll see mama Cora again in S4 for another séance flashback special! Or that Cora vs Rumple has gone down the LOST PLOT HOLE of DOOM
Next séance….could it look like this because I really need to see Regina and Zelena confront their mother… 😛
