What is strange why did the shadow wait 6 months latter to come for Bae, that shadow should have came just as soon as Bae arrived in England not till he was with the Darlings. ❓

That is a very good question.

Hmm… Maybe the shadow cannot forcibly take anyone with it; that person must willingly go with the shadow. Just like in Evil Queen/Snow case, the poison apple won’t have the effect on Snow unless Snow willingly eats it.

The shadow tried to find Bae and found Bae even before Bae arrived at the Darlings. But the Shadow knows that Bae will refuse to go with it willingly because Bae has no interest in anything magic, so it had to wait.

When Bae was with the Darlings, the Shadow knew its chance had come. It lured Wendy and made a deal to release her by taking one of her brother. Knowing that Bae would sacrify himself for the Darlings, the Shadow now could take Bae as Bae is willing to go in place of the Darlings’ boy.

People have been proposing that the shadow could not find Bae until he gave his name to Wendy, that his name is a sort of trigger. And if he has been living on the streets for 6 months it’s very possible that he’s been lying about his name or hasn’t spoken it. He only gave his true name to Wendy because she was so kind.

Really like this explanation. Makes perfect sense IMO. All the other kids in NL were probably like Wendy and just wanted to go on a fun adventure. But Bae is a special case, so the Shadow had to wait until the right time to manipulate him into offering himself up.

But when Gold used the globe he stated Belfire’s name then.

Rumpel always knew Bae’s name of course, so it isn’t just that knowing a person’s name means he can pinpoint where they are. There must be more to it, so the trigger theory was that when someone says the name, Rumpel’s magic or the Shadow’s magic might have been able to pick up a trail. What’s the point of Rumpel tracking if he himself is the one saying the name? It has to be someone else saying it.

When Gold used the globe, the blood was what led him to Bae, not someone saying Bae out in NY or Gold saying Bae in his shop. Of course, by then his son was going by Neal, so no one was calling him by a name Rumpel could track.
