ParticipantI think the name thing is important which could be a key to Bae changing his name at some point (Baelfire sticks out like a sore thumb anyway but still).
Also – welcome to the head spinning of the timeline RG (I would have replied sooner but internet is being really stupid right now). I went through all the stuff you were thinking and then got to the sticking point about how long it has been for Rumple / Hook / Smee vs Bae.
As for the idea of the tracking thing – if he did try that and it didn’t work / Bae thwarted it and knew what to look out for in the future then he may not have tried it again, instead he turned to other means: the curse that took him ages to complete / find someone to enact, and the globe which helped narrow down things in our world.
The main point I was trying to make about the shadow being a tracker of sorts is that it would work only after Bae landed – so 100+ years of falling through the vortex – and then if Bae gets rid of it somehow it would have been a failure so of no use to him again in the future. If it’s tied to the name in any way and Bae figures that out, name changes to something Rumple doesn’t know and poof, it’s gone. Bae is definitely running from his past and a lot could have happened in Neverland with that shadow thing involved.
I’m pretty sure he at least changed his name because it’s so easy to follow but if he figured out that the thing could find him easily and put it together with his father (especially if Rumple does visit Neverland at some point – be it following a shadow tracker thing or needing squid ink from mermaid lagoon etc etc) Bae would panic and if he changes it to something new, Rumple would have no way of knowing other than his other methods not working.
The only reason the globe worked was because of blood – the one thing Bae couldn’t escape easily, and even that took Rumple a long time to get a hold of.
There are lots of gaps to be filled in with Neverland and the shadow but I think that shadow specifically wanted Bae.

SpectatorOk, this is my opinion only I don’t think the name meant or flagged the shadow to Bae, I don’t think Rumble had anything to do with creating the shadow and I don’t think it is Bae’s. As for the names mean something if you recall even Regina knew names especially the ones who guarded Belle,in the Evil Queen Episode and even Greg’s name after the curse.
I still feel that we are lacking information as why it took 6 months for the shadow to catch up regardles of the name thing I am sure Bae would have used it sooner but again this just my theory.
They filpped the story so instead of Wendy, they wanted a Boy kind of like Jack and the Beanstaulk who was a girl. As I stated before this shadow has magic open the windows etc so another reason why I don’t think it is Bae’s shadow.
If I am wrong then I am wrong but this is just my theory for now š

ParticipantDoes Rumple not said something in Mannhattan to Henry, when Emma was chasing after him like, “Well, my sonās been running away for a long time now. Now I have a feeling heās equally adept at it.”
This sentences always confused me. Why doees he know that Bae was running? I thought maybe the future skills, but with the events recently it could be that he almost found him in Neverland and this is also the reason why he needed Emma to get to talk to him, cause he know he would hiding.
At that time he didn’t found bae but get the ink and helped by the wa a queen with higlights with a certain mermaid. (Please let Regina be Ursula. Lana would really deserve that.)Heros don't get their Happy Ending!

Also, if Rumble was to powerful to create this then why did he need Regina to start his curse. He needed someone – which ended up being Regina – to cast the Dark Curse because it required killing the thing you love most. Bae is the thing he loved most, therefore he couldn’t have done it himself.

Exactly! I think Rumple knew Bae was on the run from him. Perhaps Rumple caught wind of Bae being in NL, and that is when Bae fled back to our world.

I hope not! LOL! But I really don’t think it is. In the episode synopsis it states that Hook rescues Bae, discovers their connection and realizes that the lost boys are in pursuit of Bae. Seems to me that the shadow is in league with the lost boys so can't be connected to Hook.

KeymasterI don’t think she knows the finale ahead of time. I think she’s telling the person to literally watch the finale.
I’m saying this cause I’m freaked out by it.

ParticipantWell lots of things are possible at this point. I am doubtful only because that would create another oddity on the timeline.
As to docking a boat, Happy Endings, I’m still not sure of the connection to the shadow, but are you suggesting docking is something only the captain would know how to do? Because if you know how to sail a boat, you also more or less know how to dock it, as it is all about the angles and the wind. Of course, that is a very big boat, meant to have a crew, so another explanation if you don’t buy the theory that they did it on purpose, is that maybe they didn’t have the manpower to maneuver well enough to dock closer in. Remember, neither group had a full crew, but Hook had Cora and all her magic. A much better question really about the boat is this: How on earth did they find it in NY harbor, with Gold bleeding and barely hanging on to life? That place is huge! Maybe Gold did have a tracking enchanted object to find things by name.

Or how he found Bae’s apartment when the globe just said NYC?! The largest city in AMERICA!
These are questions I have chosen for the sake of sanity to ignore. Suspension of disbelief comes in handy right about now.

Seconds after the shadow flies over the water looking for Bae, Hook appears. I would be very surprised if the Shadow was Hook. I think it’s far more likely that Bae and Hook fight the Shadow, which turns out to be part of Bae making him Nealfire Pan.
