I’m sorry to go off-topic, but may I just say that two of my friends (both watch OUaT) and I had a total fit of laughter when we read that (During Press Production none the less. It wasn’t that exciting today โ€ฆ). Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜†

I think they have that glitter to make him more magical. ๐Ÿ˜‰

In the beginning of the series, I found Rumple transfixing, couldn’t take my eyes off him. His energy and his ability to read people’s souls are sexy to me, plus the fact that it’s RC. But I found Gold sexier until “Skin Deep” showed us the other side of Rumple. That sort of dance he does as he tries to keep a distance from Belle, but yet can’t resist sitting beside her…the way he watches her, admiring yet respectful…the way he really listens to her…and when he leans in and whispers, “Why did you come back?” and you can see how vulnerable he is at that moment…all of it is so sexy that the skin and the teeth become beautiful because they’re part of what makes him Rumple. Do you know what I mean?

Getting back to the original question, I wonder if there might be a connection with Midas that would explain Rumple’s gold skin and eyes. Or maybe it’s as James says in “Frederick,” gold gets in the way of love…maybe Rumple took on his gold hue as an armour against love.

darcyfarrow – that’s what I think is so great about this whole series. The example you gave about why Rumple draws you in is spot on. And it is why I was so upset at Belle when she made the “it’s working comment” after she kissed Rumple. You totally nailed it when you said that when he leaned in and asked her “Why did you come back” he is at his sexiest because of how vulnerable he is (it’s no accident that my avatar is that moment) and that, rotting teeth and discolored skin and all, he is truely beautiful at that moment . I honestly did NOT want him to change when she kissed him. Honestly, in my happily ever after version of Storybrooke, and I know people will think this is weird, Mr. Gold would change BACK to Rumple if SB Belle ever kisses him. Not that I would want that for Rumple because I know that he hates his curse but because I would want him to know that Belle fell in love with him when he looked like Rumple and would accept him looking like that forever. Maybe there would be a time when they would have to take the chance that kissing each other could mean that he might change back to Rumple’s appearance but not his personality, but then she wouldn’t care anymore and he would know that she really does love him or something.

Mind you, I still enjoy Mr. Gold immensely. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Does anyone know who any of the make-up artists are for the show and if they have Twitter accounts? It would be interesting to ask them about Rumple’s make-up and what the philosophy has been behind the progression of his look, the glitter, the “mood ring” theory etc. This show is so amazing. I could sit and listen to just the costume and make-up departments talk for hours!

I’d love to hear from the makeup artists too. In fact, that’s one of the extras I’d most like to see on the Dvd set–especially the evolution of “looks” for Rumple. I’m guessing they went through a lot of experimentation with the makeup, just as we know they did with the costumes.

Just found an online article from a beauty magazine where the lead makeup artist talks about how she gets EQ’s and SW’s looks. Her name is Sarah Graham and she’s done lots of fantasy/sci fi movies.

Just totally cracked me up that you said it was in a beauty magazine. I thought you were going to say it talked about Rumple’s make-up. Thought to myself, “In a beauty magazine???”. Then I saw it was for EQ and SW. ๐Ÿ˜†
