Okay this is strange coming from me of all people (Being the Rumple yes man I am), but I am actually glad…Nay should I even say a little proud of what Belle did in the episode. I am not saying it was not PAINFUL AS ALL HECK TO WATCH! (I cried a little It was the return’s ending all over again.). But in terms of story and in terms of character I am glad that Belle punished Rumple that way. Granted I wish in the end Rumple would have LEARNED SOMETHING! But I am glad for Belle’s sake that she stood up herself and didn’t take any of Rumple …you know what…Although now I am terrified for Belle’s safety, and what Rumple would do. (I don’t think nor doubt he would hurt her but…It Rumple is a little unhinged.) So yeah, I’m Glad nay Proud of what Belle did. To bad it didn’t lead to much on Rumple’s end.
Those are you just my thoughts this matter feel free to add your own.

We got a tiny tiny bit of that in Lacey and In the Name of the Brother (which was otherwise an awful episode, I’m sorry, it was), but not nearly enough for the setups they gave us.
A is interesting because Belle is proof that heroes don’t get their happy endings any more than villains do, if OQ and Rumbelle were respectively the happy endings for her and Regina. If she can be Emma & Henry’s friend/family enough to actually be involved in things, she’s a perfect candidate for Operation Mongoose…and I think that she would want a way for Rumple to really change, so that they could be together–since he’s what she really wants.
B is the story that Rumbelle most desperately needs. Rumple needs to earn her back, change, learn from his mistakes, and finally choose love over power completely. It has the potential to be beautiful (and we know Emilie & Bobby will sell it if they write it). And his going down dark paths to try to win her back without giving it up? That, too, will be fascinating (if painful) to watch.
So YAY Belle. Now will someone PLEASE hug her instead of comforting Regina? Jeez.

December 15, 2014 at 2:24 am #293246SlurpeezParticipantI wrote this in a different thread, but I’ll share it here, too. Belle absolutely had to do what she did to save everyone. Can you imagine an all powerful dark one without accountability? As terrible a personal sacrifice it was for Belle, I was actually mightily impressed with her inner strength. Finally, she stood up for herself! She wasn’t just an enabler of Rumple’s addiction to power. While I didn’t love that Rumple drove her to that point, she was adamant in sticking up for herself and for the rest of the town. She was a true hero, even though it was so painful, but she knew she had to do it. Rumple was both a threat to the town, to her, and even to himself, because unlimited magic without any sort of price would be disastrous for them. Unlimited power would’ve absolutely corrupted Rumple to the point of no return, and he would’ve driven Belle away from him, or else, held her against her will.

She saved her town, Mulan’s village (and heck, by freeing Phillip, helped save what was left of Aurora’s kingdom), saved Storybrooke from John & Michael, saves what she probably believes is Storybrooke from Rumple and in the process, based on what he told Hook, saves our world as well…that last one wasn’t on the list, but she’s one big dang hero. She’s saved as many people as the Savior now, and almost always by sacrificing everything in the process.

Belle is a real hero in my eyes. As Henry has said, “heroes have to make sacrifices all the time.” Where is it written that heroes get a happy ending? Neal’s final sacrifice is proof that isn’t always true. In Belle’s case, however, I hope she finds friendship, acceptance and praise for her heroism. And I agree she is just as much a savior, if not more so, than Emma is. I feel like the rest of the town needs to embrace her fully as one of their own, and host a dinner at Granny’s in her honor. Let Belle shine as a main character in her own right.

December 15, 2014 at 11:16 am #293304KebParticipantI would love to see that. And I would love to see Henry and his family embrace her as FAMILY regardless of her status with Rumple at this point. That would be beautiful. Though I believe that she won’t take off her wedding ring unless/until she had to lay down the law for Rumple once more…even if she doesn’t wear it on her finger, she’ll keep it close. She still loves him.

I agree. Though I’m not expecting any of the Charmings to care diddly squat about Belle. They didn’t pick her up off the floor when Rumple sacrificed himself to save them at the end of 3A so why should they care about her now when Rumple tried to screw them over. They expect Belle just to suck it up and deal with it but poor Regina because she didn’t get to hook up with some guy.

I wanted to CHEER and CRY all at the same time. I was extremely afraid Belle would sweep what Rump did under the rug and forgive him and the Rumbele ship would keep saiing, but I was so happy when belle took the mantle and kicked his leather patooty out of there. Rumpel got what he had coming. Belle was a BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yet still my shipper heart is crying out :/ I am sad and happy and conflicted about everything. I was saying for the longest I wanted Belle to leave him since this season started and his shadiness only increased as time went on. But now that its happened…. Idk. I am happy. I am sad. I am…. raaghhhhhuuughhhh is the only word that comes to mind.

December 15, 2014 at 9:00 pm #293398JosephineParticipantOh, Belle totally did the brave thing. She’s fantastic. I hope the townspeople appreciate her more than they do. The rabid Rumbelle fan in me had her heart broken, but the Belle fan in me was cheering because the relationship at this point is toxic.
I remember reading a book once, and I can’t remember what it was since I read so many, but what stuck out was the main character had a major upheaval in his life, a revelation about his relationship with this other person, and he talked about his life being a building that collapsed. It was built on a weak foundation, but now that it had crumbled he could take those same bricks and rebuild his structure with a solid foundation and sturdy walls. That really stuck with me and that is exactly the point Belle, and the Rumbelle relationship, is at right now. If, when, they get back together they can rebuild their relationship constructed on a better foundation than what was there.
