WHY IS GOLD enacting the curse in this way? THIS is the most convoluted and round about way to enact a curse / solve a problem that I have ever seen. Why do you think RUMPLE / GOLD is enacting the curse in the way… he has the magic, the strength, knowledge to enact the curse himself…..
Why is he going through Cora and Regina to get to this point… to get to Story-Brooke???What do you think?

The most simple explanation I can think of is that he likes manipulating people to get what he wants and in the whole elaborate scheme of things, someone else takes the blame and he gets away with it unsuspected šJanuary 11, 2013 at 12:53 am #167849tiara_roseParticipantBecause the curse could only enact with the heart of the person you love. Rumple did not have anybody he loved. Bealfire his beloved son was the only one he had and was the whole reason of the curse. He could enact the course maybe after he found Belle, but he did not believe of her love and even if he did. I do not believe that he would do it. He now the consequences, to loose yourself, to make a hole in your own heart.
In “desperate souls” he said to the Blue fairy that he will do nothing else and LOVE nothing else until he found his son. So there was no other way to enact the curse.Heros don't get their Happy Ending!

Well, in order to cast the Dark Curse, he needed to sacrifice the person he loved most. And since the person he loved most was trapped in another world, he couldn’t do it. He could have used Belle, but he loved her too much to sacrifice her. So, he probably felt that his only option was to use someone else.

Then Rumple will pay the prize, because he will know that he take away the true love and the child of his son and was almost sacrifacing Henry (his own grandson for it). I am a believer that everything has his prize, not only magic. And in the end Rumple will pay for it. It doesn’t matter, who he used ( even the devil himself), because you can’t fool destiny. He will pay for it with interest.

One, of course he doesnāt want to deal with the consequences of the curse. Thatās a given. But most importantly, in order to cast the curse, he needed to rip out the heart of the person he loved most. I highly doubt he would have sacrificed Belle for the curse, and he couldnāt use Baelfireās heart because, uh duh, the whole curse was about finding and reuniting with Baelfire!
January 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm #168137AllThatGlittersParticipantRumpel can be cowardly, so he’d rather hide behind someone else and have them do the work and get the blame instead of himself.

January 13, 2013 at 3:07 pm #168139RumplesGirlKeymasterLet’s also not forget that Rumple was looking for other ways. He was sending Jefferson out into other worlds looking for little trinkets that would help get him here faster. He tried to take the bean from Smee, he sent Jefferson to get the slippers, but nothing worked out, so he had to use the Dark Curse. And he was missing the most important ingredient: the heart of the person he loved the most. Bae’s in our world so that’s off the table and he thinks Belle is dead so she’s not an option.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 13, 2013 at 3:58 pm #168147ChrisParticipantApart from the obvious reasons, him lacking the key ingredient for the curse and perhaps his feas of paying the price, I think that there is a whole different layer to this that we have not seen yet.
Rumple as the Dark One is a master schemer, he had his fingers in almost every Fairytale so far. He wove a net of deals and counterdeals and all he had to do was pull strings to set events into motion. Why? Rumple is also the creator of the curse, he could easily have fashioned it in a way that required different ingredients, like a true love potion. The Dark Curse was fuled by true love, that was what gave it its power, Rumplestiltskin has made that potion before what hindered him of making it again and using it for casting the curse himself? There has to be another motive there.
- You know what the issue is with this world. Everyone wants a magical solution for their problems, and everyone refuses to believe in magic.ā - Jefferson
