Why wasn’t Pinocchio in the book?

We saw August adding to the book, which Henry noticed in last night’s episode. But why was his story left out in the first place? If Rumplestiltskin wrote the book, as some have theorized, surely he would have known Pinocchio’s story. Why would he leave it out? If it was just a regular book of fairy tales, it would have been in there because it is a popular story. I get why the modern part of the story (Pinocchio and Emma arriving in the real world) wouldn’t be in there, but the original part should have been. Did they explain this last night and I just missed it?

The original part was there i think. In Ep 5 Henry knew that Geppetto and Jiminy were best friends so part of their story had to have been in the book. It may have just been that the part after wasn’t all the way finished like they showed Pinocchio go in the wardrobe now, but not what happened afterwards.

I had assumed that the book was some sort of chronicle of the curse, and who had been affected by it. If Pinocchio wasn’t there when the curse happened he may not have been in the book. This would be especially true if Snow White and company had some hand in creating the book, since they had no idea that Pinocchio went through the wardrobe.

Hmm, I hadn’t thought about this. We know that Pinnoc was at least mentioned in the book because we saw him in the pilot with Gepetto. So whoever wrote the book knew that he at least existed in FTL. As to why his story wasn’t included, it could be no one knew it. Other than the Blue Fairy and Jiminy, how many people knew that Gepetto had a puppet that was turned into a real boy? Or, perhaps the story wasn’t included because at the time of writing the book, someone thought the story wouldn’t be important to Emma knowing about the curse (assuming they knew nothing about Pinnoc going through the wardrobe as well).

In an early episode, Henry tore some pages out of the end of the book to keep Regina from seeing the. Emma threw those pages into a fire. Maybe Pinoccio’s story was in those pages.

Pinocchio’s story was in the book. Henry said that it was a new story about Pinocchio after the story we know. That was my understanding of what he said. The new story was about Pinocchio being put in the wardrobe and the end of that story wasn’t finished.
