ParticipantSo I was reading some summaries of OZ books thinking maybe A & E would mash them up instead of just using one….came across these.
In the city of Herku, Dorothy and the Wizard’s party are greeted by the emaciated but jovial Czarover of Herku, who has invented a pure energy compound called zosozo that can make his people strong enough to keep giants as slaves.
from the wikipedia page for The Lost Princess of Oz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Princess_of_Oz
Now, I find it very interesting that the pure energy is called ZOSOzo, as in the dark one Rumple killed. We know the dark one power did not come from EF…so I believe Zoso stole the power hidden in the dagger and left OZ. His dagger was stolen and used against him. In Oz, people don’t age so it makes since the dark one powered by Zosozo would not age as well.
In The Lost Princess of Oz, magical instruments have gone missing. We know Rumple sent Jefferson to OZ and he returned with the crystal ball.
Also, a picture of WWofW has surfaced with the dagger in hand and very subservient disheveled Rumple by her side.
I also found this description of a wicked witch from the oz series from a silent film that would be public domain since it is over 100 years old now (I think…not sure how it works for movies). Also from wikipedia…
The 1910 silent film The Wonderful Wizard of Oz features a character similar to the Wicked Witch of the West, identified in intertitles as “Momba the Witch” (Compare the character Mombi from The Marvelous Land of Oz). In the film, Momba has an unspecified hold over the Wizard, who promises his crown to anyone who can release him from Momba’s power. Momba captures Dorothy and her companions, evoking the events in Baum’s original novel, and is destroyed when Dorothy throws a bucket of water over her
So our WWW may have an unspecified hold on Rumple. The dagger holds the energy of zosozo (And could also be a missing magical instrument of OZ). It would also explain Rumple being able to control the Ogres and stop the Ogre Wars.

ParticipantKellyn, great theory! Blue did tell Bae that whatever ailed his father wasn’t from this world (EF). So, Zoso coming from OZ and putting the power of Zosozo into the dagger would make sense. I think in the books, the WofOZ actually took some Zosozo and put it in a bottle with him on his travels. So bottle or dagger, it’s still an instrument. Love how this also ties into an explanation of why Rumple had control over the Ogres and stopped the wars.
Great research and fully on board with this! 🙂

That’s a really interesting connection. Now if I remember correctly, A and E chose Zoso because of the connection to Pink Floyd. But there is that Urban Legend that if you play “Dark Side of the Moon” from start to finish it lines up with the Wizard of Oz, the 1939 movie
You can read about that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Side_of_the_Rainbow
So that’s a really interesting connection you’ve made!

ParticipantWow interesting stuff!

That’s very interesting! I know next to nothing about Oz except for the original movie and the recent Disney prequel “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” It’s awesome to read these connections and theories!

That is very interesting! Hmmmmm. And couple it with what RG posted about Pink Floyd and Oz and I can’t help but think…
There’s gotta be something more to this.Something else I’ve been wondering about in relation to her controlling him with the dagger, is I wonder if he’s playing her, because he knew she wanted to get to Regina, and he knew that Belle and Neal are with Regina, so if he could enable WW to get to Regina, he could essentially get a piggy back ride back to his loved ones. So maybe the fact that SB re-exists comes down to Rumple having dropped hints to WW that led her to make it so? I could see Rumple being crafty and manipulative like that. I’d also think that if it were the case, he’d have been working on a plan to eliminate WW when he she would be of no further use to him, and would instead become a threat to himself and everyone else.

ParticipantLove this! Well thought out. Nice work 🙂
RG- Zoso is not connected to Floyd.
It’s a Led Zeppelin connection 🙂
