In chat tonight, we were wondering if Jafar’s plan can still work even if it is not three brothers inside the three vessels. Since Will is now a genie and not Cyrus, does this change things?

Amara: This book contains all the world’s wisdom about genies.
Jafar: Genies? That’s what you’ve refused to share with me all this time?
Amara: Well, I had to wait until you were ready and you are. Inside these pages is a spell that only the power of the three genies will allow us to cast. A spell so powerful that even I, with all my magic, could not attempt alone. But now that I have a partner…
Jafar: What kind of spell could be so difficult that it requires both of us?
Amara: One that if we succeed, will make us the most powerful sorcerers the world has ever known. We will be able to change the very laws of magic. And once we do that all we desire will be at our fingertips
Jafar: And you wish to share this with me? Your generosity–I don’t know how I could ever repay it
Amara: I have waited many, many years to find someone worthy of this Jafar. Just as you have waited years to seek your revenge, not only on your father who cast you out, but on all those who ever…. belittled you…or doubted you.
Jafar: No one has ever showed me such kindness
Amara: No one…has ever loved you like I do.
I think she scammed him because she wanted her sons back and their curse reversed and her she couldn’t do it alone. She trained Jafar so I’m thinking she knew how to play him and now that Cyrus is freed, it will affect the final outcome.

For sure. Look at the way she is stroking his ego. She was using him, but he double crossed her before she could double cross him.
So I think Jafar might be wrong about the spell–he may not actually know what is going to happen now that he has the three genies. If Amara was lying to him then something might go horrible wrong.

Will not having his heart will buy them some time to figure out how to stop him and who knows, maybe this spell is actually a good thing and will free the brothers while destroying whoever enacts it. Just a random thought. 🙂

Rumple trained Regina so she could later enact a curse which would help him find his son.
Amara trained Jafar so he could later cast the spell which would allow her to find her sons.March 14, 2014 at 8:55 am #252817RumplesGirlKeymasterWhen I rewatched last night, I noticed that putting the three genies on the table together there was some sort of reaction. But I think that has to do with the power of three genies, not the spell of break magic. I’m really beginning to doubt that there is one.

There may very well be some big magical event that would be caused by the 3 brother Genies being reunited, and that magical event would have to do with them being freed, which is what Amara’s game was all along. With Will in the mix, I do think it changes what kind of magic will or won’t happen.

I still like the idea of the Jabberwocky, Jafar and someone else ending up in the bottles, but not sure who should be the third.
Any other J names in this story? Maybe the Sultan’s name starts with J 😛 (Yeah, I suggest “Jerk”, guy is a piece of work).

March 14, 2014 at 11:00 am #252861SlurpeezParticipantI think the reason Jafar believes the spell won’t work is because Will is currently heartless. Maybe Amara really is the one playing Jafar though, because she wanted to free her sons from their captivity. However, it’s possible that the only way to free her sons really is to change the laws of magic (e.g. undoing the past), in which case, maybe Jafar actually will succeed if/once Will’s heart is restored. I could see the writers actually allowing this to happen in the story, because it would be really interesting to see what that would look like. Also, if Ana actually dies by sacrificing herself, the only way to bring her back to life would be by changing the laws of magic.

she used Jafar’s thirst for revenge to advance her own purposes – getting her children back. she even fell in love with the she taught magic, just like Rumplestiltskin fell for Cora.
the only question is, how was Amara cursed? she isn’t a dark one or anything…. where did SHE get her magic from? -
