What if some people are so desperate that they decide to save their own lives by crossing the town line? After all, if, say, Granny isn’t in Storybrooke when it’s destroyed, would she die as well? Though that seems truly terrible. They would only have their cursed memories, so, as far as they’re concerned, their entire town would have suddenly, for no reason, vanished. Unless destroying Storybooke also removes the curse, in which case they’d know who they really are.

I had the same thought. At first I thought that if the trigger is activated people would just run but they are bound to Storybrooke by the curse. So will they have to make a choice between dying or losing their memories? I really don’t want that to happen.

If everyone in SB lost their memories and scattered in the real world, we’d be back to more of a season 1 feel with Emma having to try to bring back the happy endings, and flashing back to the “real story” of their FTL lives. Perhaps doing all that while avoiding the Home Office. I somehow don’t think that is what A&E have in mind because I think they want to shake things up more than get into a formulaic groove. They broke the curse of memory in season 1, land now they’re breaking the trap of SB in season 2.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Here is an article from Vancity Filming that talks about the changes being made to the town of Steveston. I think that whatever happens in the episode, we may be focusing on another location next season.
