I think it doesn’t make a lick of sense that Ariel randomly saved the pirate from a shark feeding frenzy just in the nick of time!
Blackbeard never named Ariel (and pirates lie, anyway). How about if it was Ursula who saved Blackbeard? She has power over sea creatures, and she’d have use for a ruthless agent on land if she’s planning something.

Even if Ariel jump int water right after him, how could she save him from sharks? Even in the Disney movie Ariel almost got eaten by a shark herself. Plus there was blood. Yet Blackbeard doesn’t have a scratch on him it seems. It was just dumb to me. And I wasn’t a fan of the wishing star thing either. Plot devices, arriving out of the blue just in the nick of time.

Were they not pure of heart? Is that what Blackberad said?

That’s what BB said, yes.

That was going on for long enough before Ariel jumped in that it’s ABSURD that he survived…and with his exact same clothing perfectly intact too. Puh-lease.
Also, if the parents had the wishing star, why didn’t they use it? Were they not pure of heart? Is that what Blackberad said?
OMG THIS! If they already had the wishing star (an item they retrieved on a voyage to the foreign land, so yeah, they shoulda known what it was) why did they even need to go on the voyage that got them killed? Just make a wish that Elsa wasn’t magical, or that her magic wouldn’t hurt anyone. Problem solved.

Also, it’s very, very interesting that we saw Blue in an episode with a wishing star. No way that’s just a coincidence.

Like Blackbeard said, their parents weren’t pure of heart, so they couldn’t use it. Possibly because of what Gerda did to Ingrid and her intents on removing Elsa’s powers. Perhaps her fear of Ingrid and Elsa’s powers are what made her heart not pure.

Why? BF is just Plot Device Fairy. They’ve never done anything about her being “the blue star” post “The Return” so why the absolute insistence that it must mean something now?
Unless you want to draw the conclusion that the plot device necklace and the plot device fairy are linked by way of their extreme plot device nature.

He was perfectly willing to do it before, so he could’ve just gotten the bean from Blackbeard (who’s name is not split in two, which is a historical fact that Once apparently doesn’t mind changing) after killing him and everything would be solved.
The thing that bugged me about the wishing star was that there was no foreshadowing up to it. It was just THERE and apparently everyone was fine with that. If there had been foreshadowing, I’d be more fine with it.
(But Plot Device Fairy is now chilling with Plot Device Fairies in Plot Device Hat. Let’s get the Black Fairy’s wand, Rapunzel, and ALL THE BEANS in there and have a Plot Device Party!)

I don’t think the problem would be solved, because I don’t think Queen Gerda was pure of heart. Her husband probably was just her consort who went along with everything his wife commanded. Even assuming Elsa’s parents did wish for their daughter to be “normal” (i.e. powerless), that wish doesn’t seem like a pure-hearted one to me. Their daughter was born with special talents, but her parents didn’t recognize them as such. After way Gerda trapped Ingrid in that bottle for killing Helga, it seems like Gerda was afraid of Elsa killing Anna. It sounds like a very selfish wish, one meant to protect themselves and Anna, rather than trying to help Elsa learn to control her power.
